What is the best gas reliever to stock up on?

Any suggestions in this area? How about laxatives for those "gotta go but can't" moments? I want to make certain that I have EVERYTHING I need on hand for when I arrive home.

What is the best gas reliever to stock up on?

I got the RiteAid generic Gas-x. It's got the same amount of simethicone as Gas-x, but was cheaper. I also took the RiteAid generic for Sennekot (took one each morning and evening). Only needed them for the first couple weeks.

Hi GoofyGoddess ....
I asked the same question your asking about what do get for gaS and my Bowels .. I stocked up on gaS-X and Colace...

Well in MY case the GaS-X didn't work for me, and neither did the Colace stool softner .. I ended up sending the D/H to the local store and he bought me some Mylanta (A life Saver) and some Glysern supp. He also picked up some tiny (box of 4) tiny Fleet enamas. The Glysern Supp. Didn't help, so I used one of the tiny fleet enamas ... I finally had some relief and the Mylanta got rid of the GaS ....

What worked for me may not work for you, everybody's body reacts different in the meds they take ... But the above was a life saver for me. You may want to have both on hand, just in case..

The active ingredient is Simethicone- so as long as your product has this you should be good to go-

If you use laxitives after surgery, after checking with your use the most gentle.

But if you you shouldn't need too much of anything.

It wouldn't hurt to have the basics, glycerine suppositories, a fleets if hyour are desparate. Or take a stool softener, like dss, but again with enough fluid on board , and walking a little every day, your bowels should kick in ok

Hope this helps

best thing you can do for the gas is to get your bowels moving. for me i used a plain water enema and then i started taking metamucil, fibercon, whatever you like. Metamucil works better but can be gloppy, fibercon much easier to take. The gas-x products don't seem to do anything for me -- but you can stock up on bean-o tablets, they prevent gas from forming in the first place. Unfortunately they won't prevent the gas that we have all been plagued with, but you shouldn't get any MORE from the foods you consume.

I got GasAid (from the makers of Imodium AD), softgel capsules, DR said they were good for gas pain and bloating - and got Phillip's Milk of Magnesia (wild cherry flavor, yum!) DR said it works good and doesn't cause the cramping that some other laxatives do. while at the pharmacy, I also got a couple fleet enemas just in case, and a eye mask for sleeping in the daytime (which I never can do!) some bikini bare depilatory, (decided to do my own prep a couple days before surgery, razor stubbles are way too itchy down there! LOL) and lots of candy bars for - what else? ME! I mean for mood enhancement, haha! Well they were on sale, there was this big display for Halloween and I swear I heard them call my name!, and they were the lil mini size ones - so I won't hurt myself lifting them from my bed tray!!

What worked for me was the glycerine suppositories. They were a life savor. They worked very quick.
