Epidural experiences??

Hi Sisters, Well, I had a second opinion for my condition, and will be heading to the castle in 11 days. I meet with the anesthesiologist tomorrow morning. I have asthma also, and this concerns me, so I'm going to discuss epidural.
Can anyone give me some insight to their experiences with epidural? I want to know the good or the bad effects.
Thank you, Tracy

epidural

Hi Girl! I had my surgery a year ago! The anesthesiologist offered the epidural after the surgery. Of course, I was totally asleep during the surgery, and the second I woke up, they put the epidural in my back which I kept for 24 hours. It was a tiny, tiny needle connected to a tiny, tiny clear tube connected to a pomp which dispensed the medicine/painkiller constantly for 24 hours after the surgery. Which means that you don't feel nothing from your waistline to the upper knees. You will be in bed anyway, so you don't need to worry about going anywhere!!!! After, the epidural is removed (after 24 hours) painkillers were dispensed through the IV in the hand. I was soooooooo glad to have chosen that way. That was a smart choice for me!
Good luck! And don't worry!

Epidural experiences??

I had an epidural for my surgery. They gave me "happy" drugs at first & when I got into the operating room they had me sit up and they stuck it into my back. I didn't feel anything during surgery & was half awake/half asleep for the whole thing. At one time I talked to the anethesiologist for quite some time!(Guess those drugs turned me into a chatty Cathy!)

After 1 hour in recovery I was able to get all feeling back in my legs and they rolled me to my room. Then gave me a morphine shot.

I thought the epidural was great! The only side effect for me was that my back hurt for the two nights I was in the hospital (I still think it was the rock hard beds!) As soon as I got home I went to the cushy couch and no longer had back problems.
