Humor not gone with uterus!!! :)

Hi gals,
Just wanted to drop in and encourage all those LIW now that I am an 8-week post op veteran!!!

I had a TAH/BSO on August 8 and although I was very frightened and freaky and consumed by it all pre-op, now that I'm on the other side life is TERRIFIC!!!

The very best thing that I learned from this website (and I learned a lot!) were some wise words from a woman who had gone before me........

"We have the rest of our lives to clean, diet and take care of everyone else's needs. We only have these few short weeks to heal properly. And we only get one chance to do it right!"

This is so true! At only 7 days post op, I was feeling just on top of the world and laughing at everything. My sense of humor was hiding under that fibroid, I know it!!! I am finding joy and laughter in every day...let me tell you, those friends you have that are still dealing with the monthly dues will be really ***honkerblonked*** at you when you no longer are moody, complaining and just plain YUCK every 28 days!!! It's great!!!The very best thing that you can do for yourself is to rest as much as you possibly can during the first weeks home. It will benefit your recovery SO much!!! I am now back to work teaching preschoolers (4 year olds) and cannot believe that even THEIR daily antics don't bug me!!! ( I AM tired, though!) Stress is just so much more easily managed! Anyway, just wanted to encourage you all...it truly is the best thing I have ever had done for myself. GOOD LUCK!!! Sue in Wisconsin

Humor not gone with uterus!!! :)

Sue, you're right. Having no monthly visit is the best part of feeling better! It's funny that some days when I see a woman pick up her purse to go to the restroom, I think "I know what you're doing and I don't need to!" It feels so good to feel so good.

Humor not gone with uterus!!! :)

I got the giggles when I saw the title of your post!! In one of my terribly irrational, tear soaked moments last week I was SURE that this operation might banish my sense of humor! Like it was attached to my uterus or something! I know, I'm a goofball...but I really did have that fear! Thanks so much for making me smile and congrats on your new life!!!

Huggage!
Kim
