PCOS Post Op with Both Ovaries Removed

I had my LSH with left ovary removed on June 6th. By three weeks post, I already had a cyst on my right ovary. Now I have had four but one burst...painful! Anyway, the PCOS symptoms, hair growth, blood sugar, etc, have returned. Doc is saying that the right ovary may have to go soon if we can't get the cysts under control with the birth control pills.

My question is, did your PCOS symptoms such as the hair growth, lessen or go away after your hsyt with both ovaries removed? Did you have problems with HRT because of the PCOS?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Amy

PCOS Post Op with Both Ovaries Removed

I have PCOS and kept both ovaries so I can't answer your question specifically. But... even if I had my ovaries removed - I was told that the hyst was only taking care of a problem caused by PCOS, not correcting PCOS itself. The hormone that triggers insulin production is not produced in the ovaries so the sugar problem will not be affected. Basically I would still have to control my hypoglycemia the same as always.

pcos

hello there, I'm sorry to have to be the one to tell you this but the lady in the previous post is correct but having a hyst will only get rid of the symptoms of pcos, it is a genetic condition that 'attacks' the ovaries you will still have the old symptoms of excess hair and not being able to loose weight and having a pre depsoition to becoming diabetic so you still have to look after yourself, I know this as I have read up on all the books I could get my hands on as I have had these for at least 8 years, it is a condition that starts at the thyroid, my old gynie was not prepared to help me with all the symptoms I have, but I'm hoping that as I have a new gynie he is willing to help me with my symptoms, I have to have a hyst as I have endio as well I do now that I will not be able to have HRT because of these two conditions, so I'm not looking forward to the hot flushes.

Hope this answers your question
