Going to the castle --- again!

Hi all,

I have been putting some posts on about my ongoing problems after my surgeries and I wanted to update and ask for prayers.

Today I went in for a CT scan of my abdomen and the radiologist about had a fit. He showed me the films immediately after the test- which of course they never do that so it scared me. The clot that I have from my last surgery is the total length of my abdomen and about 10cm thick. Its huge. I immediately called my primary care dr and they had me meet with a new surgeon today and I go in tomorrow to have it removed. The scan also showed signs of infection in my bowels, which was cut during the last operation. I feel like I am finally being listened to and that has taken a big load off my shoulders, but the thought of being cut open again scares me. It was also explained to me that once they remove the clot and all they can't close me back up because it has a big possiblity of happening again so they leave the incision opened and pack it. Has anyone been through this? They told me it heals quickly, but it sounds horrible.

I am trying to be brave, but I am very scared and concerned for all the dangers that this surgery holds.

Thanks for listening,

I am so sorry that you are having to go through all of this! But thankfully the docs are listening to you and a plan of action is underway. That is half the battle!

I have no words of wisdom for you. Just know that you are in my prayers.

Please keep us posted on how you are doing.

Going to the castle --- again!

I am sorry that you're having to have another surgery but am glad that they have found the source of your problem.

While I haven't been left open after surgery, I did have an incision that wouldn't heal and was intentionally reopened and cleaned and packed and left open to heal. For the first week I had to go see the doc every day for a cleaning and repacking. He than instructed me on how to do this at home.

I had my doubts about the thing healing, but it certainly did. It did close up on its own. Be sure and follow your doctor's instructions.

I'm sending s and ers for a successful surgery and a smooth recovery.
