Recovering at my parents home has kept me from resuming daily activities so that has been great. I knew however my need for support. I am 1 1/2 weeks post-op from a TAH and feeling pretty good. I am very active and have resumed daily brisk walks.
My life changed forever when I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer 7 years ago at age 24. I made the choice to remove my uterus and cervix today because my quality of life has been so impacted for several years and I feel good about this, especailly because it was my choice.
The challenge for me is while the psycholoical impact is different now, there is still one. For example, I have incredible supports but since I have been active there is some assumption I am able to resume "normal" life. I let people know due to bowel and bladder issues it takes me hours before I feel safe to leave the house but I still sense people don't grasp it.
I know there is no answer to this, I guess I am wondering about others experiences around this recovery issue.
Thanks!

Hi Ginsy!

I am glad that you are feeling so well.

I am worried about you doing too much since you say you are only 1 1/2 weeks post-op. Walking is fine but I am not sure about brisk ones. At this point you should still be pampering yourself and taking the time to help your body heal by drinking lots of water, taking short walks, and getting plenty of rest.

I have seen several posts where the women have said to stay in your pajamas because once everyone sees you dressed they think you are well. I think it is hard for others to realize that although we are feeling well we are still recovering.
