swollen neck lymph glands/cancerhead?

Hi, I had a TAH/BSO in mid-Aug and endometrial cancer stage 1b was found. Three weeks ago I had a bad sore throat with neck glands swollen and my local doc treated me with penicillin for possible strep. A week later with no relief I saw my ear/nose throat doc (also have allergies and thought this could be the cause) and after examining me he said I had tonsillitis and prescribed an antibiotic. While the swelling seems somewhat less, it is still there and moreover now I am experiencing extreme tiredness - fell asleep at 6pm yesterday and woke up at 4am this morn and still am somewhat tired.
I know "cancerhead" can cause one to alway think anything may be related to this terrible disease and I have refrained from calling my gyn re the above but perhaps now I should?
thanks, peggiesue

swollen neck lymph glands/cancerhead?

Hi, Peggiesue

I know how you feel, I am just getting over a cold and the minute I started feeling bad, cancerhead tried to rear its UGLY head! I think we should have our own SMILIE here on CC , for CANCERHEAD! I drank tons of hot, green tea and lots of vitamin C! I would think that if you had an infection, and it sounds like two doctors treated you with antibiotics, that your nodes stay swollen for several weeks sometimes, even after you feel better. They are still doing their job, and fighting that sickness off! You probably needed the extra rest while you were sick, I know I slept last week for several hours while my kids were at school, and I NEVER do that! If it makes you feel better, call your doctor that dealt with your cancer issues. I'm sure they won't mind , if it eases your mind!
Take care, and I really hope you will be feeling better soon!

That darn cancerhead!!

Hi Peggiesue,

I know how you feel - it is so easy to imagine the worst.

A couple of months ago the left side of my face and all down my neck began to puff up and a huge swollen lymph gland appeared behind my ear. Enter cancerhead. I raced to my doctor, and upon examination she found a couple of tiny puncture wounds just above my ear indicative of a spider bite! Seems I was having an allergic reaction to the bite, spider species unknown. It was decided not to use antibiotics unless it became seriously infected, which it didn't. But it took a month for that lymph gland to return to normal. I can laugh at it now, but at the time I was really scared.

I do think you should check with the doctor for your own peace of mind. It could be that the antibiotics aren't working and you need a different one. Also, your surgery was not that long ago, your body is still healing, and then to get sick on top of it - well no wonder you are tired.

Take care, get lots of rest and drink plenty of liquids to flush out your system.

swollen neck lymph glands/cancerhead?

Thanks Rhonda and Moonflower for sharing your experiences with me. I am scheduled to see the ear/nose/throat specialist at the end of the week and will wait to see what he says; he knows about the endo cancer.
I really wish there was a cure for "cancerhead."
Blessings. peggiesue

swollen neck lymph glands/cancerhead?

I have been dealing with cancerhead too and know how you feel. I saw my GYN today for my six week checkup and she has put me on a short course of zoloft for depression.
I am having some issues with my bladdertack and have a bladder infection so started a course of antibiotics too.
Hang in there. From what I understand, cancerhead does go away! It just takes time.
A friend of mine just surprised me with a giftbox of shower gels and scrubs. I went home and took a long shower in the middle of the day to try out my goodies. It did wonders for the morale. (made me smell good too!)
Pamper yourself. Curl up with a cup of green tea and a good movie (comedy preferred).
Not sure if this is helpful - but HUGS to you anyway!
