Pamphlet on OVCA

At my gyn/onc's office, I was given an extremely informative booklet on Ovarian Cancer. It's packed full of info, from staging to definitions to addresses, and everything else in between, and is the best booklet/brochure/pamphlet that I have seen on ovca.

It's titled:

"Myths and Facts about Ovarian cancer - What you need to know"
(3rd ed), and is 'presented as an educational service from GlaxoSmithKline'.

Authors: M. Steven Piver, MD, Gilda Radner Familial Ovarian Cancer Registry, et al. , and Gamal Eltabbakh, MD, Director of Gynecologic Oncology, University of Vermont.

Ask your gyn/onc to get 'free' copies for his/her waiting room.

Another Good Booklet

I have that booklet and another one I love even more: Resources, a Guide for Women Living with Ovarian Cancer. It's put out by Bristol-Myers Squibb and reviewed by the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance. It's just in a new printing. I put ten out at my oncology clinic and then it was just one left so I set out some more and am taking a dozen tomorrow to the hospital oncology floor to supplement what they have. It's very user friendly and I think something needed when women are diagnosed--not down the road. I tried to get the oncs to get it but went ahead and stocked the waiting room myself. Ellen

I think the best source of information out today is the book:

Ovarian Cancer Your Guide to Taking Control.
by Kristine Connor

I highly recommend it for anyone dealing with ovarian cancer.
Sooo much comprehensive info in one source.
I wish all cancer treatment centers had it available for all ovca patients.

That book is just what was urgently needed for years! These are smaller free booklets you can get as starters for women newly diagnosed--that's why I've stocked the hospital and clinic--but Ovarian Cancer, Your Guide to Taking Control should also be available for women to at least look through before buying!
