Climara Patch

At 3 weeks post op my doc put me on the Climara Patch (.05) and I noticed almost immediate emotional relief. One week later I could feel the patch wearing off. The following week I felt it wearing off even earlier. Last week when I saw him I questioned if I needed a stronger dosage as it seems to wear off before the time is up to replace it. He told me that sometimes that is the problem with the patch and now has me replacing it every 5 days instead. Just thought I would pass this on.

For me, the Cimara Patch is like a miracle drug. I can't take an oral HRT because I have had weight loss surgery in the past and my body will only absorb the hormone erratically if taken orally.

Just thought I would pass on the info he told me about the 5 days.

Climara Patch

I am on the .05 estradiol (generic clamira). My first patch, the one they slapped on me in the hospital after surgery, wore off in 4 days. They put it on my upper arm where there isn't much fatty tissue. The next one seems to have lasted the 7 days (Placed in one of the recommended spots). Just changed it last night. I have been having some problems with dry skin and itching. Its not the "ants under the skin" type I have read about. I just keep using more and more lotion. With the new patch put on last night, the itching increased drastically and I had a hard time sleeping last night. But it seems to have settled back down to the normal itching now. I am also getting very hot at night. Not night sweats, just very hot. I'm not experiencing any hot flashes during the daytime. I'm actually cold most of the time during the day. I am assuming this is all related to the patch. I will discuss this all with the doc at my 6 week check up. Figure I can bear it until then. Guess this just shows we all react differently to the same hormones.
