LAVH 8 yrs ago--now with pain and discharge

I had a laproscopic vaginal assisted partial hysterectomy 8 yrs ago......I didn't know much at the time and sure wish I'd had access to this website! I was diagnosed with mild dysplasia and didn't know until surgery that I had endometriosis, which was causing severe pain. I kept my ovaries, although they weren't working very well at the time. I wasn't given hormones and have been fine since. So far, thank God, all my paps since then have been normal. Now, however, I'm having paing in my left side (I think the ovary area) with a slight darkish discharge at times, and have mood swings similiar to what I had before my hysterectomy. I'm worried that the endo is back, and/or my ovaries are shutting down. My last pap was in 2001 and everything was OK. Does anyone have any suggestions? Am I crazy or is there really something going on? I have a gyn appt soon and would like to be prepared with information beforehand. Thanks for any help.

Hi there and welcome to Hyster Sisters I'm so sorry that it's because you're having problems

I have not experienced the issues you're dealing with, but I know that bloody discharges this late after surgery is not a normal part of recovery. Especially since it's also accompanied with pain. I'm relieved that you are seeing your Gyn soon. However, if your appointment is not in the next few days, it would be a good idea to call the office and explain what is going on.

If you are entering peri-menopause, you might be experiencing vaginal dryness. Click here for additional information on this condition: If you haven't done so, please ask your doctor to test your hormone levels.

Sending lots of healing your way. Please let us know how you're doing.
