Oh my god, really need some sister's support on this one......

Ok, so on top of everything that has been going on last night I return home from work and am trying to rush to get out of my suit and pantyhose because I have to pee, and all of a sudden I sneeze and WHOOSH I pee all over the place

I am so upset.....with everything that is wrong with me, does this now mean I'm incontinent on top of it??? I know that some sisters have been dealing with similiar things, so please HELP??? I have had a few instances where I've really had to go and almost not made it to the toilet lately but it's just been a dribble or so, this was definitely a WHOOSH and there wasn't a thing I could do about it.......

Is this an isolated instance or is there more going on, I am sorta freaking out here

Gidge:

I'm so sorry! To be honest with you, I have been sort of like that since the surgery. I used to be able to hold it forever it seemed, but not anymore. I know they say the bladder drops sometimes, so I assumed it was that putting more pressure there to go. I have been in your shoes before - especially if I sneeze really hard. I was at work today before lunch and the feeling hit me really hard - I did the pee-pee dance all the way up a LONG hall to the restroom. It seems like I don't have to go at all and then WHAM! I gotta go right now. Terrible!

You're not alone - but maybe yours is due to the bladder problem they are suspecting with all those procedures you have to undergo. Hopefully, that will fix it all and you'll be back to normal. I'll be praying that I'm right!

Love and {{hugs}}

thanks Lisa it helps to know I'm not alone, I'm just very concerned that it's going to develop into a full fledged problem.......yikes

Worst part is I can't seem to talk to anyone about it ,I'm afraid they're going to laugh or tell everyone (silly I know but it is sooooo embarassing)

Please sisters I need advice on this one

Gidge:

I know how you feel. Believe me, with all the GI problems I was having, people kept wondering why I couldn't eat out anymore or why I knew where every restroom from here to there was located. I got tired of making excuses.

Anyway, I would ask the urologist about this. No one had better laugh - it isn't funny when it involves you. I was miserable with my problems and ran out of a sense of humor about it. I used to worry about people knowing too, but have been through so much, I have gotten past it now.

I wonder if Kegel exercises or some other exercises to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles would help? You might ask your doctor about that? Mine mentioned these after my surgery.

Anyway, just know I'm here - I'm sorry I can't offer any real answers, but you definitely have a shoulder to cry on and a friend to talk to. I'll keep you in my thoughts that you will find some answers - we are way too young for this!

Gidge, I had to pee constantly because my bladder was smashed by my uterous before surgury, I would wet my pants when I coughed or sneezed. I can hold a lot in my bladder now, but I still get the sneeze pee or cough pee and I'm 1 year post op. usually if I wear a panty shield its all it takes,
its not a lot but just a little squirt of urine when I cough or sneeze, I go back for my year check up the 12th
but I feel great and have great bladder conrol and can hold it ALOT longer than before but still get the sneeze/cough
pee. Hang in there.

thanks for your replies so far girls it really helps to hear everyone else's experiences!! I guess what freaks me out the worst is it just came out of the blue, I never had problems likes this pre-hyst. although it was very reminicent of times when I would have my period and sneeze and I would gush all over the place once again sorry for the graphic's but it's the only way to describe it. I am so scared now that it will get worse

gidge,
Me too!! I seem to have lost a lot of bladder control since surgery! Thought it was better then I was driving home from work a couple of days back and I full fledged wet my pants! Just started and could not stop!
I was very embarassed even though I was by myself.

Told my Mom about it and she said she also had problems after her hyst many years ago, But it does improve>

Sooo, I have taken up wearing thin pads again!!!!!!!
Of course I do not have all the bladder problems you do but just thought it might help to know you are not alone on this one!
Hope you feel better soon! Deb tah/bso 7/17/00

Oh my god, really need some sister's support on this one......

Gidge, I can remember as a child having no control over my bladder if I laughed too hard, I remember playing that game called "chicken" where you get on someone's back and sort of push each other till one falls off, well, I was on my brother's back, and started laughing, need I say more? I was about 9. He freaked totally, and never played the game with me again, he was about 12 at the time. It was just a known thing in my family, don't make her laugh too hard, or either if they did, they would say, alright get up and go to the bathroom before they would even continue to play. I never had an incontinence problem per say, just the standard sneeze too hard trickle, but I always learned to control that muscle before I sneezed. But what I will say is most definitely you need to look into the pelvic floor strenghtening that I have been talking about on here, the good thing about this therapy is that a probe lets you actually see how strong your pelvic muscles are, it really does work. I feel much more in control of my pelvic muscles now, it didn't take the pain away, but I can feel a difference. I do not have an incontinence problem, but the IC specialist has recommended this surgery for women because pain can also result from weak ligaments and bladder muscles. With everything else you have had going on lately, it isn't a surprise that you would have the accident you mentioned. Hope you find some answers soon.

OOPs, made a mistake, I said surgery, I meant to say treatment, the pelvic floor strenghthening is a type of therapy, no cutting involved.

{{Gidge}} I've had the same thing alot lately. I noticed it a couple of months ago. If I sneeze or cough I leak I never had any problem like this before except when I had to pee I better find a restroom NOW I havent mentioned it to my Doc thinking it would get better with time. Kegals are supposed to help. I hope this was a isolated incidence for you. Hang in there and please let your Doc know to see what he thinks.
