22cm fibroid,now a 15 cm cyst

Nov. 2001 Ihad a 22cm. uterine fibroid and TAH. March 2003 I had a 15x14 cm Benign ovarian cyst ,drained one liter off the cyst because I hoped to avoid another abdominal surgery. But 2 months later it was back to it's 15 cm size. So I had anothe big surgery. Now I am 4.5 weeks post op. The Dr left my remaining ovary because it looks fine. Has anyone had to go in for a third female surgery? I hope he did the right thing leaving the remaining ovary. Oh yes, and the ovarian cyst was so large it had blocked off one of my ureters so I ended . up with a stint in one kidney.

You certainly have had your fair share of surgeries lately! 15cm sounds like a huge cyst. It must have been very painful!

I don't have an answer to your question. I have had multiple laparascopies for endometriosis etc.... and then 2 c-sections and the TAH. I am scheduled for another laparascopy at the end of November. The doctor is thinking there is more endo and will also do a Prescacral Neurectomy to hopefully help with my continuing pelvic pain.

I certainly hope that your remaining ovary behaves.... but I am not sure anyone can say for certain whether it will or will not. I do think some women opt to have them both out "just in case" but I am sort of on the other end .... I don't want to take anything out until it's a problem. I can't help thinking that once you take out an organ (like an ovary) you cannot put it back again.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Hopefully you are off the "road" and on your way to the rest of your life very soon.
