Blood Platelets
Hyster Sisters,
Chemo # 7 was cancelled for me today, due to low blood platelets. (46000 in a normal ref. range 140000 -240000).
Heard those words 'bone marrow' procedure or whatever, and transfusion today. Really do not want to go there. Any advice on how to get the count up would be much appreciated.

Platelets
Unless your platelets get dangerously low, which I've heard is under 10,000 (correct me anyone if I'm wrong) they wait until they come up on their own. I guess a platelet transfusion is very expensive. I've had platelet problems--on my 10 day after treatment they've been 35,000 and when I go for chemo, they've been way all right. I think the little guys just have to recover on their own.

Blood Platelets
I just went through the low platelet thing last week and was almost hospitalized but the team decided to wait and let my body do the work. I don't know what they were on Tuesday but Thursday they were 14,000, Friday 16,000 and I sent out word to my friends that I needed lots of prayer or I would never reach 50,000(that's when they said they would stop taking blood every day). I also did a lot of talking to my body and visualized the elongated cells dividing and filling my blood vessels. On Saturday the count was 31,000 and was told I could wait until Monday for the next blood check and Monday of this week they were 71,000. So the body has the remarkable ability to do what it has to do!!!! My next chemo is is 10 days and I expect they will continue to rise! I was also told to get some rest as well....l learning that the body is working very hard during chemo!!!
