Wild Rose/Chemo today?

I was just wondering if anyone had heard from Wild Rose and if she received her chemo today?

Wild Rose/Chemo today?

Thanks for your concern. My chemo was a 'no - go' yesterday, due to low blood platelets. So, I played 'hooky', went down to the dock here, and melded in with the cruise ship passengers here. Well, I am going to enjoy each day!

I am scheduled to see my gyn/onc this coming Monday, and have a feeling that the term 'blood transfusion' re: platelets will be suggested. Or something similar - bone marrow?

Have they given you any ideas as to how to try to build them up? Are there any type of shots, such as the one to help the white blood cells during nadir? Any special foods to be really cramming down to improve the count?

Yes. You enjoy each day. That is exactly what I am focusing on doing. Hubby just asked if we were going to mess with putting up the Christmas tree this year. I said YES! On Christmas Day, if all treatments go as planned, I wil have six more radiation treatments to go.
I know that most side effects of radiation are cummulative and I may be going through quite an ordeal by that point, but whether a person has cancer, or not......healthy or not healthy.....I refuse to miss seeing another Christmas tree. You know?

Love and hugs to you sister!

Wild Rose/Chemo today?

I just checked my notes, etc., and I have taken injections (Neupogen) to zoom up WBC and also (Recormon) for RBC. Now, platelets seem to be a different matter. One document that I read said that 2 weeks after a chemo is when platelets are at their lowest, and it can take 7 - 14 days from them to climb back up. My chemo schedule was on a 3 week cycle. But, I have learned that, like most other things in life, factor in some extra time there! So, now, instead of finishing Dec. 24, and then later, it became Dec. 31, so just as well. Now, it will go into next year a bit.

The only vitamin that I have seen re: blood platelets, but not 'promoted', as such, is Vitamin K - found in broccoli, cauliflower, etc. But, this was minimal research here on my part.

I wish you all the best in your radiation treatments and chemo. While there are no radiation facilities here, I think that there will be next year. Which reminds me of this: I found it very helpful, when I was lying on a table - for a CatScan - and someone broke my meditation, to call one of the doctors in, and I just grabbed his hand, and would not let go then. (I believe in the power of touch, and I needed another human touch right then). This might be useful also for radiation simulation table?

And, like you, I am getting in the holiday spirit! Love the music!

blood platelet count to go up

Yes, Maureenie is right.
Maybe we just all need to send up some good vibes, prayers, etc...each day for the count to go up?

I will and am sure that everyone here will join in
