Question about Cancer Awareness Ribbons!!!!!

OK, I keep getting conflicting information on different websites.
I'm simply trying to find what the correct color ribbon is for cervical cancer.

So far I've see:
Lavendar
Teal
Teal/White

How do we know which one is right?

I just checked a couple sites

One says teal is also for cervical cancer. I know Sept. when we wear teal is not just OVCA awareness month but GYN cancer awareness month too. Lavendar is for cancers without special designated months and for general cancer awareness.

Question about Cancer Awareness Ribbons!!!!!

I always thought that teal was for ovarian cancer. That is the color ribbon pin my oncologist gave to me.

Question about Cancer Awareness Ribbons!!!!!

One website said that lavendar was for all GYN cancers
Teal was for ovarian

Another web site said teal was ovarian, but teal with the bottom right side of the ribbon white was cervical.

Heck-I guess just pick one and go with it?

Rosalie...

Your Onc. GAVE you a ribbon? What progressive place do you go to? We are VERY pink--so I did the teal giving in Sept.

I would like OVCA to be able to keep the hold on teal so we can do maximum awareness.

Question about Cancer Awareness Ribbons!!!!!

So do you think that the one website that had lavendar would hold true for cervical cancer? Just a GYN ribbon?
I want to get me and my mother one, but don't want to get the wrong color!

Question about Cancer Awareness Ribbons!!!!!

Hi Ellen,

Yes, my oncologist gave me a ribbon pin the very first time we met to discuss my diagnosis and treatments.

You see, I go to the number 1 rated hospital. LOL

However, it has been in all the papers and magazines for real.

I think ALL oncologists dealing with gynocological cancers should have these pins to distribute.

Teal Ribbons

When I accompanied my sister to the surgeon's office ( we had the same surgeon, only I saw him at my HMO office) the office staff gave out teal ribbons for ovarian cancer. Of course I took one in my sister's honor. She is TeriG, and starts her chemo on Monday. I can't be with her, so appreciate all of your prayers and good wishes for a good response. Thanks!

My Golly!

Am I getting educated here! Drs. offices that HAND OUT teal ribbons? What am I missing here? Hm... I've got to mention that! I think lavender is the color for general cancers and I don't know about teal/white. Lavender would do awareness but it'd be nice to have something specific. I could never remember my teal pin so I got a teal ribbon tattoo with "OVCA" around it so I'm walking awareness. We could use some more colors for awareness.

Question about Cancer Awareness Ribbons!!!!!

My chemo nurse which is at the Doc's office gave out lavendar bears wearing little hats. It was real cute. One of the nurses, at my Doc's office said that teal was the color for Cervical cancer also. So I did my scrapbook in teal. Now I hear it should just be lavendar wich is for all gynecological cancers that don't have a color. Oh well, my album is teal, and that is what I'm going with, since I already am half way through.

I guess, It is whatever you want to go with.

's and ers to you....
