Rectocele Repair

Hi Everyone,

Has anyone had a rectocle repair and after if was comfortable and painful. It is almost as if the repair overcompensated and is too tight. I saw another doctor for a second opinion, and he said he could repair it and loosen up the muscles instead the vagina.

Has anyone heard of this before?

Thank you.

Rectocele Repair

I had a rectocele repair after my hyst and was uncomfortable for a while, at least 4 weeks and then I would still have some pain for another 2 or 3 weeks after that. I know that things felt really tight down there and that my doctor kept telling me that it would feel better after all the swelling went away and he was right. I don't remember exactly how long that was but know that it seemed like forever before I didn't think about the pain and swelling anymore.
You don't say how far out from the repair that you are so it may just be swelling and will get better on it's own.
Good Luck...

Rectocele Repair

Hi Carmel,

My surgery was 2/14/03, 9 months ago. I keep hoping it will feel better but it is so uncomfortable. I have also been going to physical therapy for it. The therapy has helped a little bit. I have the repair surgery scheduled for 12/5 but I am scared to have it. I keep wondering what problems will I have next from this next surgery.

Thank you for responding.

Rectocele Repair

Well I would think that by 9 months you would feel back to normal, I have no experience with having the repair undone, I am looking at having a cystocele repaired sometime soon though so can understand how you are feeling about another surgery. It seems that with me everytime I get one thing taken care of something else pops up, but then again, I am an exception to the norm. I'm sure things will go well for you.

Rectocele Repair

Dear Carmel,

Thank you for responding. I will let you know if I decide to have the rectocele fixed. I wish you well with your cystocele problem. I know what you mean about having one thing fixed and ending up with another problem.

Take care,
