breast biopsies

Has anyone had the new type breast biopsy? It's called stereotactic and they do it under local anesthesia.

Guess not--though I know others who had other kinds under local. But Lynn, does this mean that you have to have a biopsy? Did they ever find your earlier mammograms? (I had an earlier set lost too so had followup mammograms so they could compare their own sets.) It's hard to wait for results, that's for sure, but I hope you don't have to go through a biopsy.

Stereotactic bioposies

Hi Linda,

Yes I have had the stereotactic bioposies and would never have one again. Everything that could go wrong went wrong with mine. They ruptured a blood vessel so I swelled and missed 3 days of work. Than the swelling would not go down but the pain went away. So 8 weeks later I had to have a lumpectomy {sp} becasue it left a hard lump in my breast. My surgeon said he had never seen anything like this before. I would not have one again. In fact the last one I had we done it the old way. Did not have any problems that way...
