Severe Back Pain, still not leaving

Okay girls I am scheduled for a LAVH on Tuesday Dec 16th, had my last visit from Auntie Flo 2 weeks ago, up until then I was beginning to question my having this surgery. Then Flo shows up and parks herself on the small of my back with several large African Elephants....Really! I can almost hear them when I quit screaming from the pain. This is a new experience for me, how bout all of you? I was not bleeding heavily, but the clots were huge. Dr said that my uterus probably had to contract to get rid of such clots, but the bleeding stopped a week ago and my back is still really sore. Anyone out there have anything similar? Getting a bit nervous reading all the stories, but it seems like many of the "bad" ones are from abdominal hysters. What about you who have had the LAVH like I am scheduled for? Just trying to cover all the bases before tuesday. Thanks!

I had a TAH, not LAVH, but I wanted to say that I had absolutely no problems with surgery or recovery. One thing to remember is in a lot of instances the ladies who have easy recoveries feel so good they forget to come back and let others know how they are doing. The ones who are having problems or are worried if their recoveries are "normal" post a lot more than the others.

And actually according to a study done a few years ago
The overall operative complication rate was 3.5%, and highest for the laparoscopic techniques. The overall post-operative complication rate was 9%. One percent of these were regarded as severe, with the highest rate for severe in the laparoscopic group (2%).
