People say the darndest things sometimes! My dear friend really means well. I told her that I had a hysterectomy with removal of my left ovary. She said "don't worry, my friend had two babies with only one ovary!" I could be the first! My doctor would be so shocked!

Too Funny!

You would make medical history! You could be on the cover of the Enquirer if your friend is right!

It's a little scary that grown women don't understand what a hysterectomy is. I had a friend tell me I would definitely feel better now that my periods would be lighter!! (ooooh, it still hurts to laugh!).

That is so funny. And I agree a little scary for that poor woman.

Speaking of getting pregnant, at my 3 week check up I asked my doctor if it was physically possile for sperm to permeate a vaginal cuff, reach an egg, and cause an ectopic pregnancy? He sort of chuckled and said, "Well, in the history of hysterectomies, I suppose it's possible there may have been one reported case of this. But it is so unlikely that if it happened to you, you would be in all the medical journals and you would be famous."

Then I just started laughing my head off and my doc said "What?" & I said "Leave it to me to CONTINUE to worry about getting pregnant AFTER I no longer even have a uterus." Of cousre I know it could not be brought to term, but I heard that ectopic pregnancies are very painful and require surgery to resolve. Just a little bit paranoid of anything that could cause a need for surgery these days. One major surgery was enough thank you!

Best wishes,

Quick get your freind to a doctor, she is suffering from open mouth insert foot disease! TOO FUNNY! I love it, I went to the ER the other day with panic attack from lack of hormones/medicine reaction. I told them first thing, panic attack TAH/BSO three weeks ago.......then the nurse asked "any chance you might be pregnant" DUH Hum? Gee I wonder????? I think I will have a card printed up for every time I get an x-ray, see a new doc, get blood drawn etc. Could save myself lots of money on pregancy tests! HEHEHEHEHEH

where do the eggs go

My neice who had a tubal ligation asked me the other day. Well since we both have our ovary's where to the eggs go. Now mind you she is a little chunky and replied " do you suppose all those eggs are stock piling and that is why I have gained weight!!!

I asked my Dr. the same question about the eggs. He told me he was stitching my vagina closed so the sperm couldn't get through to the eggs. He also stitched the fallopian tube somewhere (I don't remember where-he just said he couldn't let them hang loose!). He also said that even if the sperm got through, the chances of it getting to an egg with all the changes in my body were slim to none. I hope this helps.

It is too funny what people think hysterectomies are. I have been amazed at how many people (especially women!) don't know what it is.
