Fistula Fluffy's URO report!

My appt at the URO was for 11am and i didn't get in until 1:30pm--but that was OK the receptionist let me go run errands and call back to check on the line.

The dr is very very nice, and said,
"Oh so you're the famous hysterectomy patient". The nurse was really really nice, too but there were Scary Instruments in the room.

The dr. talked to me and said i have a "Best case" scenario for VVF repair, and we could go ahead do the scope today, if i wanted. WHAT!?!?!?!?!

so, thinking of my dear husband who says get bad stuff over with, i said , "Let's do it".
The RN assured me it wasn't bad.

It wasn't. They applied some numbing goo, and he was very gentle and quick with the scope--they filled my bladder with saline, which felt a little weird and crampy. the only hurt was when he turned the scope to view, and it was a quick sharp pain. He let me watch on the screen. I saw the fistula hole!

So, then i gushed like Old Faithful, but they were nonplussed and just handed me pad to mop up with. My ureter hurt for about an hour later, and peeing burned and i felt some urgency for an hour. But i survived.

He said NO suprapubic catheter!! Hallelujah!!! i would go home with a very small Foley and leg bag. oh i'm SO relieaved about that.

And i asked him about using a tampon for "outercourse" and he said, after you shower, have your DH use a condom and you can have intercourse, if you want. YAY!!! But i could use a tampon too, if i wanted for outercourse.

We didn't talk dates yet. He has never had a failed repair.

So, the scariest thing is over with in terms of diagnostics.
That's my report! I'm treating myself to pizza tonight. I ran around like a mad woman all day doing Xmas stuff and am in severe pain--2 Darvocets haven't even touched it.

Keep in touch, sisters!!!!

Fistula Fluffy's URO report!

Dear Fluffy,

I am so glad to hear the good report on the doctor!! He sounds like a keeper and so does the nurse.

Let us know when you have a date for the surgery. It sounds like you are on your way!

Fistula Fluffy's URO report!

Wow Fluffy!

Sounds like you have a great doctor!! I'll bet it was great to hear that you have a 'best case' scenario for 'the fix'!! It's also great that he's never had a failed repair!! Very, very encouraging stuff!!

It's wonderful that you got the 'scope overwith right then & there..the waiting & worrying's the worst part, I think. It's great when they just 'do it' right then & there's no time to stress about it.

I've done the ol' 'outercourse' thing about 4X since Sept & it's been ok. We even tried the 'intercourse' thing once or twice to see if it still worked (splish-splash) but we didn't 'complete the mission' via that means..sorry..too much info, I know, but I am happy to report that it all seems to be working ok.

Cheers to impending dryness for all (after a soggy holiday season)!!

Let us know as soon as you get your date, ok?

All the best for a wonderful holiday season!!!
