spotting after sex

I used this board back in 1999 when I had my hysterectomy.(TVH). I have been having urinary problems. Frequent white blood cells in urine. Had uro scope done, everything according to uroligist was fine. I still have frequent lower back and lower abd pn. During my hysterectomy, i bleed quit a bit internally afterwards and have never been given a reason why. I still feel my doctor did something, but can't find anything in my records. The past couples times my husband and I have had sex, i have noticed spots of blood on my tissue when going to the bathroom. I also have vuvodynia, which causes frequent vaginal irritaion. and don't know if the blood is anything to worry about. I had my hysterectomy due to years of heavy bleeding, and cervical dysplasia. I'm worried that the doctor visits are going to start all over again. Anyone had this happen to them and is it something that i should be worried about. Thanks for any input.

Hi Linda

I haven't had any experience with what you're going through, but I really think you need to report the post sex bleeding to your doctor. This really needs investigating in my opinion. It maybe something as simple as vaginal dryness but until you get it checked you're just going to worry aren't you?

All the very best.

Hi (((Linda))) and welcome back! I'm sorry you are having trouble with spotting. Are you on HRT? Could it be that you're having a problem with vaginal dryness? Low estrogen levels in the vaginal tissues can also contribute to frequent yeast infections and UTI's as well as stress incontinence in some cases.

Have you talked with your DR yet about the spotting? I think any new bleeding should always be taken seriously, so you should let him/her check it out... but please don't worry just yet, it really might just be a dryness issue that you're dealing with.

Let us know what you find out, OK? I hope it's something easy to take care of.
s,
-Linda

Yes, call the doc - could be hidden/regrouped granulation tissue, which is treatable in an office visit.

spotting after sex

I still have my ovaries, so i am not taking hormones. However, I did have my pap done 2 months ago and it came back with abnormal cells. I was told it was nothing to worry about and to follow up in a year. I called my drs office yesterday and left a message with the nurse, but have not received a return call. I'll try the office back after the new year. I hope its nothing to worry about and is just from dryness. My husband and I usually use a lubricant. Have a Happy New Years and I'll keep you posted.
