just need to vent

Hi had anemia test(normal),had hormone test(normal) although i am still cold and hot, sweaty so on. Am waiting on thyroid test to come back. I feel as if they think im a hypochondriac. The only positive thing is my cardio knows the palps are real and my gp knows i have hypoglycemia. I just want to get back to my normal self again. I still have not gained the weight back from nissen surgery(about 2 1/2 months now) eat three times a day and still cant get it back. My med bills are piling up and it is getting frustrating running back and forth to docs. Maybe my hypoglcemia is getting worse and causing all this?????????? angie

Hey Angie:

Sounds like you have some of the same concerns that I sometimes have about others thinking we are faking it. I think that is only natural given an ongoing health concern with no easy (obvious) solution. Sooner or later, self doubt sets in.

My guess is that your doctors are just puzzled and taking it one step at a time and perhaps not being the best at communicating that they know your symptoms are real. So, if they aren't good at reassuring you without a cue, then by all means, cue them. Come right out and ask them ... do you believe my symptoms are real and not in my head?

If you have a GP who is managing your care perhaps he/ she is the best one to have a heart to heart with. Voice your concerns/ fears. That has worked really well for me. I usually find a suprisingly supportive reaction from my doctors if I communicate fully. Some are really great at guessing what is on your mind and others need our help

Best wishes to you and prayers as well that your doctors find an answer for you soon and that you respond quickly and fully to treatment.
