Scared to Death and Surgery in 18 Days

I had endometrial & cervical cancer in December, 2002 and I'm doing well now. I have a checkup every 3 months. I was so scared before the surgery. The worst for me was finding out that I had cancer, and then waiting for the surgery. Keeping busy helped me get through it. I'm praying that all will go well for you. Remember that you are not alone--we are here for you, and God is carrying you.

angel..just wanted to lend my support..use your fears to motivate yourself..read up on what uterine cancer is..it IS very curable..and most often only requires surgery. A competent gyn/onc should be able to do and see what's neccessary..and the waiting is the hardest part... < I know. I can tell you when i first got my dx ..every now and then it would suddenly take my breath away..i'd be working and all of a sudden feel OMG..I have cancer...then i'd push past it and go on...it will help you to form a "game" plan with your docs...arm yourself with information..and write all your questions down...such as are the going to take pelvic nodes and ovaries... are they going to do a CT scan to make sure things are 'contained"...i too was dx with uterine cancer..unfortunately i waoted too long and it spread to bowel lining..but is ok..am finishing up IV chemo<not as bad as some flu's I've been through..and still have most of my hair<it's the lil things.. .....but the best advice I can give is like I said..read up about your particular cancer...and it IS one of the most curable if Dx'd early..which it sounds like it was..and most often as I stated surgery is the only thing you'll need...you'll need to go for check-ups more often and so forth...but it's worth it for peace of mind..and work WITH your gyn..ask him your question..or give then to him in writing...most docs don't mind..and if he does..phttp! it's YOUR body..and you have every right to know what will be done to it...GOD bless..and good luck..keep us posted

thankYou

Dear Shzoo, Thanyou for all your advice I'm still scared but like everone else I think it's mostly the waiting and not knowing. Some times I get scared at every ache and pain I get and I know I shouldn't. I know that it's the stress that is doing this to me. Now that the holidays and my birthday are over I know it will go by real fast. Thanks again and I will keep everyone informed. Angeleyes
