couple questions

I had my TAH/LSO 9/28. Just was wondering how long does the bleeding continue. Called my doctor this week and he said it was ok, but I'm just curious about a time frame. I realize everyone is different. Just would like to know when this will be over for good.

The other matter is my digestive tract. Every time I eat something, I seem to get a lot of gas then am usually in the bathroom within the hour.

The doctors office said I need to eat better or more fiber,
but it is hard to eat when you know the outcome. I have taken a fiber tablet the past 2 days hoping this might help.

Just wanted to know how normal any of this is.

Thanks for listening.

Debbie

I didn't have any bleeding at all after my TAH, but I can offer suggestions on the gas. Eat as much fruit and/or fruit juice as you can and WALK, WALK, WALK! I took several walks every day, and that really helped keep my digestive system working smoothly. Good luck!

I more or less spotted for about 4 weeks after my surgery. The spotting changes to a lighter color as the weeks go by.
As for the gas, I agree with Chemyn. Walking really helps to get rid of the gas. Hang in there!

Debbie - I had tah/bso 3/22 - I bled and/or spotted for about 1 1/2 weeks after surgery but it wasn't bright red and it wasn't heavy.

"Gas x" seems to be a popular item to have around I just watched what I ate...no gasy foods, no carbonated drinks and no straws. Ate lots of fresh fruit, fiber foods etc. On the days I didn't feel like eating I drank some liquid meal like "ensure".

RESTING - feet up is important throughout recovery to keep pressure off your stitches.

Dear Debbie: I was told by my doctor the bleeding or spotting can continue for 6 weeks just as long it wasn't bright red and heavy(soaking a pad in a hour). GasX works for me for my gas. My TAH was on September 28th. Hang in there it will get better.
