New Doctor on Monday!

Well, I finally decided to go to a new doctor on Monday. My friend has had a total hysterectomy and had no problems whatsoever so I wanted to see her doc. He's not avail till end of Jan and since I didn't want to wait----I'm seeing one of his associates. The doctor is here in PA and not in NJ where I work, so the first day back after new years I will be LATE TO WORK!

I am determined to get answers ASAP and 2004 is my year to be healthier and happier.

This cyst is making itself known, I'm 45 and haven't had a period for about 3 mo's or more. I've really had it with feeling bloated and these "twinges" from the cyst.

If they want to do a hysterectomy and feel in spite of my prev surgeries that they can do it successfully---I may just let them do it.

I'm a wreck and don't like feeling this way.

Doc in PA

The doc I am seeing is in a group in Bethlehem, PA and I'm not seeing the one I had wanted to, however, I figure I can start the tests etc and then make an appt with the actual doctor in this practice that I wanted to see.

Email me privately if you choose to reveal who your doc in Philly is.

Thanks,

Mary

New Doctor on Monday!

Dear Mary, thanks for your post. When I was going through what you're going through now, I tried to keep thinking that people (i.e., doctors) were being brought into my life for a reason. While you may not be seeing the doctor you want to see because of his/her schedule, you might be seeing the doctor you need to see (who's going to use all of his/her skills to take care of you)!

In fact, I had a radiation doctor who I thought was wonderful. He was the one who suggested that I do both chemo and radiation at the same time. He assured me that, while it would be tough, I was young enough and healthy enough to handle it. So I did what he suggested; he was right - it was tough; but my treatment has been completed since September! If I had to wait until after chemo to start the radiation, well, I'd probably just be finishing up the radiation treatment now. Yikes!! His suggestion save me three months plus of treatment time.

Interestingly, not too long ago, I received a letter from the hospital saying that this doctor resigned from their staff. I don't know where he's gone yet. But my first thought was that God brought me to him when I needed him and kept him there till my treatment was done. His work (with me) is done and he's onto new and different things. So am I...

Good luck to you, sweetie. Let us know how you're doing.

Your diagnosis?

Maureenie...

what exactly were you diagnosed with? I just have a cyst on my ovary that is driving me out of my tree (ROFL).....I have been told by the last doctor that in his "opinion" there is less than a 5% chance that I have cancer. I'm hoping that he's right. I'm leaving the last set of doc's number 1 because we've since moved to PA and it is too far from my home, number 2, their practice was so big that they didn't know what the heck was going on from one visit to the next. In fact, the doc that did my surgery a year and a half ago (removed a tube, cysts etc)....had to be reminded what exactly she did to me! I realize i'm not their only patient but was hoping my insides were at the least---memorable.....

In any case I need some answers and refuse to take things lightly...
