estrogen, too high? or too low?

i have been trying just about anything to get to sleep at night,
i finally gave in last night and took a nytol, it helped me sleep, but i still have the same problems everyday, if i take my estradiol .1, i feel nauseas, like if i was getting too much estrogen, i was very hyper yesterday morning and i went to a natural herb place and i bought the progestorne cream, five minutes after i applied it i felt really calm, the store manager said that i might be getting too much estrogen, and maybe this is why i am not sleeping at night and getting so hyper, i called my dr, and asked for a blood test and he is just ignoring me, he told me to take more estrogen, one in the morning and one at night, this is not helping. he told me to give it a few days, but he is not the one not sleeping everynight, having to take care of 3 kids and a job, so at this point i am very upset with my gyno, and will be looking for a new one. i think that if i get a blood test he will be able to tell what i need to take. am i right? is there also certain food that will make your estrogen flactuate, i noticed every time i have chocolate, my hot flashes get worse.
i am sorry about the long post, but i am at the end of my rope with this situation. any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

thank you

estrogen, too high? or too low?

It could be that your body is just not absorbing the estradiol pill very well, (since it has to pass thru the digestive system first) thus you may not getting adequate estrogen replacement.

Some of us have found better results in the patch--which is a transdermal method and absorbs directly into the blood stream.

Blood tests can give an idea of what is going on...but a lot of doctors prefer to go by symptoms. There is a wide range in results----while one woman may feel good at an estradiol level of, say, 70, another feels awful.

Also, here's a symptom list of too much/too little.

In addition, you are not yet even 2 months post-op---it can take some time to find the right HRT replacement. Hang in there...and if you feel your doctor is not listening or helping, then do seek out another one. I have found great care with my family practice doctor...she has been a "gem" and has listened and helped tremendously.
