Please Help!!

Hi everyone.

Could any of you help me with what type of doctor/specialist would be the best to go to for chronic pelvic pain. My gyn has only said the he only knows of one doctor in Indiana who specialize in this. And he is also a gyn. Is there any other type of doctors who specializes in chronic pain? I want to find the best of the best to help me with this problem I have developed. Thanks for all your help.

Dear Carol,

I have been dealing with pelvic pain for a long time...

My suggestion would be to check the International Pelvic Pain web site for a possible doctor in your area.

www.pelvicpain.org

I have seen Gyn, GI, URO, Pain Mgt doctors. I think the Gyns I have seen are the most knowledgable on the subject but I also think that depends on their particular interests. Some Urologist and Uro/Gyns are quite knowlegdable too.

Did you have the pain prior to surgery? Have you consulted with a Uro and GI doctor as well? Pelvic pain can be very confusing and can have multiple causes... which is usually the case when it has gone on for a long time (many months to years).

I hope you find someone nearby who can help you.

Sarah
