Help...need info for appointment tomorrow.

Well, I had my hyster in April, 2003. Kept the remaining left ovary and the cervix.

Now I'm seeing a new GYN because the left ovary has a large cyst and needs to come out (due to endo).

I'm not confident that the GYN who did the hyster really did a good job looking for and/or treating any visible endo. I know they can't get rid of all of it (that's nearly impossible) but his post-op report only reflected what was found through the pathology report (the endo, adhesions and fibroids on the Uterus). I found it strange then that there wasn't endo everywhere since it's been everywhere before and I hadn't don't anything that would cause it to decrease in ir's growth.

So, tomorrow I meet with the new GYN, who I've know before through an old insurance carrier, and he's a really good surgeon. I'm wondering, what's the chances of there being endo on the cervix? I know the ovary has to come out, but because the GYN who did my hyster didn't claim to find any endo anywhere I'm concerned that he didn't either look or know what he was looking at. After my last two laps it doesn't make any sense to me that the endo was gone...I know the pain I've experienced.

Can the GYN see the cervix laparoscopically and know if it needs to be removed?

I don't want to go in for a rather simple surgery and wake up finding out they did something like the abdominal surgery. (can you tell I'm nervous?)

Thanks ladies...

Dear Rita,

I hope your appointment goes well tomorrow. I don't know the answer to your question ... sorry... hopefully the doctor will be able to set your mind at ease. I know I was able to have my right ovary removed via lap.

Just a little friendly support

Just joined Hyster Sisters, and responded to your earlier post. Wish you my prayers and support for your appointment tomorrow a.m. I did not have fibroids, however did have laser laparoscopy for endometriosis. My cervix was removed 1st, when I was about 28, due to dysplasia. Ovaries next, separately, due to endometriosis and small bowel obstruction due to endometriosis. Please let me know if I may help you in any way. You deserve it!

God Bless!
