I am concerned about my next Dr. appt. This appointment will decide if I need a Hysterectomy or not. I have had Abnormal paps on and off for a while until recently they became regular. They have all came back as CIN 3. I had a Leep in Sept/Oct. and my Dr. told me that it came back bad! I am curious what that means? Does that mean that they found no "good" cells??
She said a LEEP usually cures this kind of problem. What if it does not???

LEEP, cold knife cone, hyst

If your lesion area was visible with a colpo, then she may have been able to excise the entire area without any problems. If there is still a problem, she may decide to try a cold knife cone bx as it is more extensive and the edges of the biopsy are not destroyed by heat. Otherwise, you may end up with a hyst.

I find out at 2:00 tomorrow if that is the route I will be taking.

Hoped that helped! Keep us informed!

It might mean that the doctor could not get clear margins. Or the biopsy showed some cells to have progressed past CIN3. Either way, the next option is usually a hysterectomy. When do you see the doctor again?

Best,
Janie

I had a LEEP done on 12/9/03 after about 2 years of abnormal Paps. I usually would have mild to moderate dysplasia. Well, my results from the LEEP were severe dysplasia, CIN III.

My doctor sent me a print out of the results of the LEEP and I had a meeting with her and my PCP to explain the results and to discuss my options. That really helped me.

I have decided to have a hysterectomy because of fear of cancer (I have the strain of HPV that can turn into cancer) and the fact that I am done having children.
