Hys side-effects & alternatives to HRT

Hi! It's been over 4 months since my hysterectomy. I'm having lots of hot flashes but at the same time, having trouble keeping warm outside. (I live in Alaska.) I can't seem to take the cold this winter. Is there a problem with my thyroid, or is this to be expected if I don't do HRT. Also, would HRT make it so that I can handle the cold? It's very frustrating. I'd like to handle this transition through diet changes, lifestyle changes, and herbs and vitamins. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Also, about how long can I expect to go through this transition of hot flashes and body changes? Thanks for the help!

Hys side-effects & alternatives to HRT

I take Cenestin - they have a website - this HRT is derived from plants. Yes, it is a synthetic estrogen, but it comes from a natural source. I take it once a day, in pill form with a 1.25 mg strength.
I don't know the website offhand, maybe just try www.cenestin.com and see what comes up. Or try a search in one of the search engines.
I have taken it a day shy of 5 weeks and I have not had any of possible side effects listed and didn't have any surgical menopause - night sweats or hot flashes. For me, it's a keeper.

While I am on HRT, the Vivell dot, I also take 1600 mg of vitamin E daily. The vitamin E helps with the symptoms you are having. I did have one week where I waiting for my HRT to be delivered, and did not have one hot flash, or night sweat. While this might not work for everyone, this is what my gyn suggested.

I would check with your doctor before you try this, I sure hope that it helps.
