I am bored, depressed and feel alone today.

Thanks ladies,
Miichan - the Wellbutrin was working but I had a couple of my doctor's make the comment that Wellbutrin because of the way it works might be counter productive to my particular problem which is pelvic irritation and pain. For some reason I got the impression that Wellbutrin can be a stimulant or agitant. My nurse practioner also said that she would not have prescribed Wellbutrin. She is the one who suggested Lexapro.
Originally, when my gyn suggested putting me on an antipressant I requested one that would have the least sexual side effects and that is why he prescribed Wellbutrin, but he was reluctant. (I told him I don't smoke or drink or have any vices and that he couldn't take my sexual life from me)
Since I basically don't have a sex life now, because the irritation is so bad that I can't achieve orgasm, I made the change to see if another antidepressant would make a difference in my symptoms of pelvic dysfunction. So far there has been no difference in my symptoms while on the Lexapro. If I don't feel better soon, I will ask to go back to the Wellbutrin. I remember taking Effexor before and feeling so bad that I couldn't take it anymore. I had a three month supply that I had to throw away and I vowed never to take that drug again. Maybe I can't take the serotonin drugs. Anyway, I will keep you ladies posted. My son is on Lexapro and he isn't having any problems on it. I guess we are all so different.

Kelee,

This is as always JMHO. I took Lexapro for a few months and it just didn't agree with me. I felt much like you are feeling. I also found that I wasn't depressed because I had NO feelings at all. I didn't cry, laugh, get excited or happy about anything. It made me totally numb emotionally. I went off of it and was put on Wellbutrin and I love it! It is known to be a stimulant but th at is a temporary side effect, after a few weeks of taking it that went away.

Word of caution for you and your son. If either of you ever go off the lexapro you may get what is called "brain zaps" and it feels exactly like that. It feels as if you are getting tiny electrical zaps every few minutes....forme this lasted for many weeks and my Dr thought I was crazy but when I logged on to a depression forum I found that almost everyone who goes off an SSRI will experience this.

Good Luck and let us know how it's going. I'm not trying to scare you away from the Lexapro but just want you to be aware of your emotions or lack there of.
