HELP! new here, need advice

I am scheduled for surgery tomorrow to remove an ovarian remnant (we think). I have a real concern about this. Do ovarian remnants always have to be removed? Believe me, I know they interfere with hormone balancing, but from searching on this site, I have read that something like 40% of these surgeries fail. I asked my doctor if he has ever done this before and he said no! Should I cancel and find a specialist? If so, what kind? Should I let this doctor look and identify the problem but tell him not to remove it? Then I would leave myself open to another surgery later. Please- any help, advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated. If I am going to cancel, I need to call the dr. in a few hours!!

thnx, Susan

I'm sorry I don't know what a rement is so I'm not going to be much help there! I reason I did reply though is because I would be terrorfied if I found out that my dr. had never before did this type if surgery and I would find out what type of dr does and make an appointment.

I'm sorry your dealing with this problem As you stated, they can cause problems with balance There are several gals here who have experienced similar problems over the years....I personally have not but from all I've seen & read, an Ovarian remnant can be exp hard to find more less remove it <sigh> IMO, I would seek out a Specialist, one who is more versed & skilled in these. A Gyn-Onc carries more more skills & precision when it comes to difficult surgical situations such as yours may be... I would consult with one if it were me before going any further
I'm going to list some threads from other posters who have had these...hopefully they can provide you with some better insight conerning their dx & possible treatment:

I hope this is of some help ((Susan)) Pls take the time you need to educate yourself surther on this dx so you can feel comfortable with the decision you make! Pls keep us posted...(((hugs)))
