Fibroids and bleeding

Hi,
I have a fibroid the size of a grapefruit and the other one size of a golf ball. My stomach is hurting me in that area, feels like pressure. plus I have a large uterus. I have been bleeding some and feel so crampy. I am suppose to have a hysterectomy when I set the date with the gyno. I keep putting it off. I have a gyno appt. in February. I feel so bloated and just feel plain yucky. It even hurts me to lean against the counter such as when I am drying my hair. Can anyone relate?
Thanks,
Diane

Fibroids and bleeding

Diane,
Absolutley I can relate. I had a 5 pounder the size of a junior size soccer ball . I experienced all the symptoms that you described and never realized until after my hyst. of miserable I felt and how much better I feel. Mine was gradually growing for 3 years and I just got use to feeling that way and forgot was normal was.
I feel like a got my body back and haven't felt like this in years. Can wear any pair of pants I want any day because no more bloating or pressure. I exercise and run again and feel light as a feather. No more fatique either.
I know the surgery is not something that any one wants to have and I was frightened. But I have to say I am healthy again and feel like I got my life back.
I just felt like I had to respond to your post because I was there.

The best of luck to you.

Fibroids and bleeding

That about describes me to a "t". One time I even brought up to the gyn about ...I can't even put dishes away...when I reach up and lean into the counter it puts so much pressure on everything...I told him that and he didn't really know what to say, he just kind of sighed. I work in an elementary school cafeteria and when the kids put their dirty dishes up to the dishroom window so many of them put them at the absolute very edge, so that I have to reach...and this counter is a good 2 1/2, 3 ft deep. And being 5' 2", guess where it pushes on????? I have resorted to keeping something handy to pull the dishes to me. I've tried to get the kids to push them in, but that's just wasting my breath. I also work in a nursing home as a nurses aide and I have to bend down and squat to dress patients and put socks and shoes on and so forth. Oh boy, does that do me in. It just feels like my insides are fighting for space and my enlarged uterus and fibroid are like...step aside, step aside, we're taking over. I always feel like my stomach is protruding and it's pulling on my lower back. And when I bend over and stand up, then my bladder starts saying...hey, don't forget about me, and then I have to run to the bathroom quick because bending over is putting pressure on it and when I stand up I have to go "NOW". It's a constant battle everyday and it is so old now. I can't wait to go back to the gyn on the 30th and get my surgery date. I am so ready for this.

Fibroids and bleeding

I also know exactly how you feel. I have been feeling really tired, bloated and cranky for ages now, and can't wait to get my life back. I am having TAH 2/11. My largest fibroid is 20cm. and then there are at least 2 other ones. My uterus is 10x normal size. I really had no idea what was causing all this fatigue until I found this website. When I went in to see the gyn. she asked me why I had waited so long. She asked, "aren't your clothes feeling tight?" I just thought it was fat. But I exercise regularly and watch my diet, so gaining 10 lbs. in a matter of weeks was pretty odd.

It is good to hear from other fibroid suffering sisters, and to know there is relief on the other side.

Fibroids and bleeding

Ladies, I was there! I thought 'cause I was reaching the big 5-0 I was slowing down and starting to "fail" WRONG!!! My TAH/BSO was Nov 12 and I feel fabulous! I have energy I forgot existed! I sleep all night without getting up 4 or 5 times to pee. I'm wearing pants with waistbands instead of elastic. I'm walking with a bounce in my step and taking the stairs. I lost 12 pounds without trying. Wow! I am so happy I had those pesky fibroids out. And the best part? No more 10 day periods every other week. YAY!
Granted, surgery isn't a breeze, but you'll sleep through it. And if you do as you're supposed to: water, rest and little walks, recovery isn't as bad as you're are dreading. It's the boredom that'll get you. Be prepared, stay in touch with one another and check in with the web site - the sisters here are terrific.
Best of luck to you all,
Pam
