Anyone with a Bartholins history?

Hi, Ladies. I'm looking for anyone who's had her Bartholins glands removed. Mine were completely taken (both sides) about a year and a half ago. My hysterectomy was a few years ago. I sure don't ever hear much about the Bartholins and I wonder if my particular post-op experience is common or not. I'll tell you, that surgery to remove the B's was hands-down the most brutal thing I've ever been through in my life, including the hysterectomy!

Would love to hear from anyone else who has had trouble with the Bartholins. (In "real life" you can't just ask that question around in public places, haha!)

Thanks!

Anyone with a Bartholins history?

I had a Bartholin's cyst show up on my right vaginal side just after the birth of my daughter 18 years ago. It was about the size of a golf ball. On most days it didn't bother me at all -- I didn't even notice it. Actually I only knew it was there because one day I wanted to see the stitching job done on my perineum after my daughter's birth and I freaked out over the lump that was suddenly there. The only time it was uncomfortable was if I lost weight (I'm a little chubby) and my bottom area lost a little 'padding'.

Last January my doctor said that since I will be pre-menopausal soon, I should probably have it opened and a new duct created. He said that the Bartholin glands help to lubricate, and that I'll need all the help I can get soon. I had that done by laser. It took about 1/2 an hour at the hospital, they put in a catheter that stayed in place for about a week and a half. It became the new duct. I haven't had any problems with it since.

Anyone with a Bartholins history?

I've had bartholins cysts 5 times, twice on one side, three times on the other. Most horrible painful experience in the world, I think. I ended up having the new ducts put in on both sides. One popped up again just 2 weeks before my hyst, fortunately a few hot sitz baths made it burst. They are vicious little boogers!
