hang in there

Hi again RealM

I tried to post yesterday but the site wouldnt refresh.

Im from Adelaide - we have some great Docs here and some not so great Docs.

Yesterday was a very special day for us (DH and family) It was 25 years ago to the day that my Hubby had MAJOR abdominal surgery for metatistic cancer. he had a lousy GP who completely misdiagnosed the original tumour, told him to come back in 3 months - DH went back after 2 months with incredible back pain - thankfully the first GP was on holidays so a locum saw him - took one look and he was in hospital having surgery within 3 HOURS!!!!!! Bloody GP - we were so stressed out that he might not make it that we didnt make any fuss about the misdiagnosis - BUT it meant we couldnt have kids and DH almost died beacuse of misdiagnosis. His surgeon was brilliant thank God.
Now, 25 years later I realise as I write this that as I approach menopause I am really angry with that Doctor. Watching 9 months last night probably didnt help!!!

It seems the trick is to get diagnosed as soon as possible - that has happened with you so with your surgeons brilliant skills you will be fine.

Another try

Just for the sake of closure, I'd like to say that my hyst/tumor removal went very well, and that my tumor was benign and the doctor was able to leave me my right ovary, which he said looked perfectly healthy. So there is hope, even if there is a complex ovarian cyst with elevated CA125...

Questions: cancer or benign?

Glad to add you to the numbers of us who've had this sort of scenario! Did your doctor say that the mass was endometrioma? That's most likely to be the complex cyst along with the high CA-125.

Now, take care of yourself, and here's hoping for an uneventful recovery!

endometrioma

Hi Audrey,
Yes, as a matter of fact, my doctor was surprised to find that I had endometrioma (apparently it wasn't visible/diagnosable from the US or CAT scans done), and he had to spend a lot of time removing the tissue which had adhered the cyst to my left abdominal wall AND to my left ureter. It's just too bad you weren't around to consult when the diagnosis was first discussed - sounds to me like you have a better idea of what was happening in me than my doctors did. ;-)
