Need information on uterine cancer...

Tenacity --

If there is any question about the pathology, or where this cancer originated, have the slides read by a second pathologist. They can do it with the specimins that have already been removed. Small cell cancers are often lung cancers. Do they think the lung is the primary spot for your cancer?

Also, if they are uncertain as to the locus of your cancer, you might want to ask about chemo sensitivity testing, which could be done on the new tissue that is removed. Not that you would delay treatment, but that this would be additional info that might be available to your docs to inform later treatments.

Let us know how things are going - and don't worry about the odd posts. We all have those moments.

Hey Dorrie,

I agree with you! Having a 2nd pathologist interpret the slides could be most useful. The ONC was suspecting the origin to be lung cancer but with all my running, fitness activities, etc. he was reluctant to say anything definitively. I did smoke for about 2 years. Was trying to finish up college. I limited myself to a pack a day (which is still quite a bit even for light cigarettes). My Mom was a prolific smoker so maybe I picked up the tendancy for this type of cancer from her. I know she didn't know any better or she NEVER wouldn't hurt any of her babies!

The ONC took samples (frozen) to do chemo sensitivity testing already. However I am glad you mentioned this because others may not realize how important this can be. It can save them from wasted time and energy that they may not have, trying to deal with ineffective chemo treatments. This is essential testing!

I'm still about the moments!

s and kisses

Just a hint in the smiley department: if you click on "Preview Reply" you can count up your smileys before trying to post; four is the limit per post, though, for reasons of bandwidth and to keep such a busy site loading as quickly as possible!

and ers for all you're dealing with...
