Good very very early morning...

Hi All

I am sitting here at 1:25am. I took my pain meds (toradol) but nothing. They have totally lost all effect on my pain. I had a hot bath, sat with a heating pad, blah blah blah....still, here I sit with my knees to my chin, I just hope that I can endure this for the next 8 days now. I have to take my daughter to her orthodontist tomorrow and I am so dreading the thought of getting out of bed..(if I even go to sleep), never mind driving for a 1/2 hour, sitting and waiting for an hour while she has molds done and another 1/2 hour home. I swear, I will be nothing but bedridden when I get home, but then there's supper to be made, little ones to bathe, laundry to do, etc. etc. Is there anyone here that goes on the 18th as well? Also, is there any Canadians here (Ontario)? My DH called me from work to let me know he is going to buy me a cordless phone for when I come home from the hospital, I even asked for a cordless keyboard and mouse. Big Question for anyone who can answer....ENEMAS...do they give you one before surgery or do they just suggest "rectal friendly foods"? I really don't want an enema, but it takes 36 hours for food to be digested and be passed out the other end, my surgery is at 1pm and I'm not allowed to have anything, solid or liquid after midnight the night before...I am so going to be starving. OMG!! I just feel like screaming just to release the anxious feelings. You are all so great!

18th too!

Hi Vicky!
I have met several folks on the 18th. It's a popular hyster day. I'm also having TAH a long way from you, Australia! I'm here without family except for a dear DH and DS (6 years old). I really wish the surgery was tomorrow. I do have my preop tomorrow. Can't wait to ask the doc a few questions. I have learned a lot on this site. I hope you can get through the next week okay and can get some help. I would like to know about enemas too. Doesn't sound too pleasant. Best wishes. Praying for you.

Good very very early morning...

I did not have any prep work. No shaving, no yucky stuff, nothing. But I could not eat/drink after midnight.

I was on the Atkins diet and my doctor told me to kinda come off for a few days before. He said to eat softer foods right before and after. Easier to pass.

You might want to call your dr and find out what he recommends. Some require a prep, some don't.

I had to do a fleets enema the night before then nothing to eat or drink after midnight.

Have you had your pre-op yet? This would be a good question to ask.

Best wishes...hang in there...the countdown has begun. You'll do fine. Sorry to hear you're in so much pain. Just think how much better you'll feel once this is all over...sending you a big

Blessings,

Good very very early morning...

Vicky-

Regarding your pain--could you talk with your doctor about trying something else? Last week I ran out of Lortab and called the doc's office. My physician was not in that day, so someone else called in Toradol to the pharmacy. Lortab is a controlled substance only a MD can prescribe it. Anyway, Toradol didn't touch my pain. As soon as I could I went to the doc's office and sat there until I got a prescription for more Lortab.

A girl has to do what a girl has to do!!
