Back from pre-op discussion with doctor!

Yeah!!! No bowel prep! Yeah!!! No shaving or even clipping! No packing either! Can have sex up until that morning if I want!

How I love my gyn!!!!!

So, anyway, i'm am so ready to do this. We did discuss other alternatives that I could try but then also discussed that they aren't permanent. When he asked me what concerns I had about the hysterectomy and I told him sex life, bladder/vaginal prolapse problems later, pelvic floor weakness he took those concerns and addressed them one by one and said that those concerns were not actually having anything to do with the hyst but later down the road concerns that won't even show up and he (and I) felt that this is a good decision. If I had said I was bothered about losing my female parts, wanted more children, was scared of anesthetic etc, then he said we could try the other stuff. So.......

We've decided on a total - since bleeding is the reason i'm doing this I don't want to deal with mini-periods so i'm not keeping the cervix. Also bleed some after sex so don't want that chance either. We talked about the studies regarding leaving it in and taking it out and he made me feel comfortable with taking it out. Also, he does it the "new" way - although vaginally he doesn't disturb the main blood supply to the ovaries so they will work just fine AND he stays away from the main nerve bundles that make sex the way it is. Also, since he just was in there with a laparoscope, he doesn't need to do that since he know exactly what it all looks like and has the pictures and everything! His operating specialty is vaginally and laparscopically so I feel so comfortable with these decisions.

Can't wait to be on the other side!!!! Is this normal to feel this confident about these decisions?????

That is awesome that you feel so confident. I think it is very important that you feel that way, too. Best wishes!
