Lost all sexual desire...

Hi Sisters

I had my procedure the first week of January. Just had my last check up and my Dr. said I was doing great. Although I still feel strange and so out of the loop. I cannot seem to want to go to sleep as you can see it's 2 in the morning and I am still awake. I hate to get up in the morning. I will be going back to work on Monday. Which is good because I have been feeling locked up.

Now to my question, I have been afraid of being intimate. My boyfriend has been good and we have just kissed and hugged. Yesterday it was more intense. But I felt nothing. No desire, no sparks, no pleasure.... NOTHING. This so strange for me. I was always so active. Before my surgery the moment I saw my boyfriend I was excited. Just to feel his touch would arouse me. I have no idea what is going on with me.

Lost all sexual desire...

HI Sunset,
I checked your profile and see that you kept your ovaries - so in theory you are still producing your own hormones.

What can happen after surgery is that your ovaries go into a bit of shock, or work a little bit less as they adjust to the change in blood supply.
This could be what is happening with you.

If things don't get back to normal for you fairly soon, I would suggest getting back to your dr. to have some hormone testing to see if everything is working properly.

On the other hand, it could just be that your body is still feeling tuckered out and isn't intested - once you have more energy overall things will probably change.

I think you need more time to heal. 6 weeks is not that long - regardless of what these docs say. My doc told me that the soreness I am feeling at 6 weeks post-op is not from the surgery. Yeah Right!

Lost all sexual desire...

I am only 3 weeks post TAH/BSO so I am not even vaguely onterested in sex yet. However in Oct 2003 I had a Hysteroscopy, Laparoscopy and D&C, which is a fairly minor procedure and I didn't feel amarous for about 10 weeks, when things got back to normal.
I am expecting the Dr to tell me it is safe at my 6 week check, but was expecting it to be at least 10 weeks before I feel really keen , so I am sure you are not abnormal in anyway and that those feelings will be back in full flow soon.
Good Luck
