Unusual Mass
I would be anxious to know if anyone else has had this scenario:
I went to Dr. complaining of pain in pelvic area. He felt small mass on uterus. Went for US. No sign of mass. Went back to Dr. 2 weeks later, felt no mass, but uterus was bigger and bulkier. Went for CT Scan. Scan showed enlarged uterus and cervix in area of pelvic floor. Cervix is barrel shaped and enlarged.
Any info you ca share with me would be appreciated.

Unusual Mass
Hi Kimime
Mamy years ago I had an ovarian cyst ( cantelope size the DSr said). It caused lots of pain, but t it was fluid filled abd disapeared in a week. I have heard that rhese kinds of cysts are common. Perhaps they can enlarge and change the shape of the uterus and cervix temporarily. What did your Dr say?

Unusual Mass
Hi Debbie,
I do have a small cyst ont he ovary, but in addition, My Dr. says that I have an unusual growth on the center of my cervix area and the uterus is bulky. There is no way to biopsy in the area that it is in. I am having a LAVH on Tuesday. Then they will send the entire uterus to pathology for cross sectioning.
Another odd thing is that my uterus had such a change in the two weeks between examines.
Did you have your ovarian cyst removed, or wait for it too go down?
Thanks for listening. Any info at this time is helpful.
Kimmie

Hi Kimmie,
I may be jumping the gun a little but if it were me I would get another opinion from an oncologist/gynocologist. They are the experts in this field and will set you on the right track.
Keep in touch.

I agree with Rosalie, Kimmie. I would seriously consider a second opinion with a gynecologic oncologist before having surgery. It would not be typical to have a barrel-shaped cervix, and while it could be a benign condition, it could also be a cancerous condition. This is not to alarm you, but since it cannot be biopsied, you are essentially "shooting in the dark". If it turns out to be cancerous, you need to have the most qualified person performing your surgery, and that would be a gynecologic oncologist. They will figure out if it's cancer while you are still in the OR and then make the determination if you can have a regular TAH/TVH, or if you need to have a radical TAH with your lymph nodes being checked for any stray cells.
As far as your ovarian cyst, well, once your doc has a look at it, s/he can decide the best way to treat it. I, personally, would be inclined to have the cyst removed, but discuss it with your doctor and see what s/he thinks.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this a simple situation and that you have great outcomes with no evidence of cancer, but please have this conversation with your doctor before going to surgery.
Keeping you in my thoughts and 'ers
