I have a prolapsed uterus.....

I have recently found out I have a prolapsed uterus
and cervex. It's not "out", but it's "down", and
uncomfortable as the day goes on and after I've been
on my feet. The nurse practitioner told me it was more
than likely due to having lifted too much during a move this past summer. I have also had a large baby, and a tipped uterus, and have always been a woman who "worked like a man" when there was work to be done. If it needed moved, I moved it. Now I'm paying for it.

I see the surgeon on the 25th to find out if they can lift it all up or if it needs to come out. I have had urine leakage since I gave birth to my daughter in 92 and she said that surgery, either way will help that.

If they have to take it out, should I have my overies out or leave them in? I'm 39 and still have very regular cycles. The idea of going into menopause doesn't thrill me, though I've had a tendency to be PMS-y over the years (though it's leveled out and has been better these past few months I've been separated from my husband) so maybe having them out and taking HRT would keep me more "even"??????

Another concern is my sex life..... after having a great one during my 20's and not much of one in my 30's, I was looking forward to getting divorced from Himself (that's what I call him) and having a fresh new start. Then, less then a month from the divorce date I find out I have to have this surgery!!!! Bleck! Now the divorce is going to be postponed until after surgery/recovery so I can stay on his insurance.

I know this is a long message...... I hope someone out there can help me.... I enjoyed reading the comments on the main page - this is an extremely helpful site. Thanks to all of you who took the time and cared enough to contribute. I just didn't see any mention of prolapsed uteruses etc.....

Hugs to all of you,

I have a prolapsed uterus.....

J.A. Just wanted you to know that you are not alone. I too have a prolapsed uterus and bladder (second degree) I started a thread titled "Anyone out there with uterine prolapse..." There has been quite a few responses. I guess there is more of us than I thought. Email me, I'd love to compare stories and treatments.

I have a prolapsed uterus.....

I too had prolapse uterus and prolapse bladder. I had TAH/Burch 6 Oct and I know if the choice had been given to me to tie it up and keep it, or have it out I would still have chosen to have it removed. The periods are gone and the bladder is in the right place, no more dribbling YEAH!!! My doctor said as long as I was done having kids I might as well be done having periods too. I feel great 2 weeks post-op but I am so bored just resting.

I have a prolapsed uterus.....

Hi girls,
I see there was that other thread going on this subject! I guess I just didn't see it! Geee, with my mind so clear and focused, I can't imagine how that happened! ROTFLOL

Thanks for the information.

What is a TAH/Burch??? And did you have your ovaries and cervex out too?

What is stage 2......? How far it's down?????

I have a prolapsed uterus.....

TAH is Total Abdominal Hysterecomy.
Burch is the procedure they do to repair and suspend your bladder.
Second degree is how far down your uterus has dropped. There is 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degrees. 1st being the least amount and 3rd meaning it is below your vagina opening.
Hope this helps.
