Did I make the right decision?

My hyst. was approved on Friday my the insurance, and the nurse in my dr office said call when you are ready to do this. So I called and said go for it. I am now so scared. I have suffered for many years with endo, fibriods, pain, and everything that goes with it. Why is this so hard for me. I have put this off for ever went through this whole thing last year now here I am again. I had to cancel last year as my father in law had bi-pass surgery and my DH had to go there and I had no one to be here. It was really just an excuse too. I am just not sure but I should be. I am in body ready but not in mind. Do you think I mad the correct decision?

Did I make the right decision?

Hi Teena. It sounds like this has been a hard decision for you to make. If you think you are body ready but not ready in your mind, then perhaps you shouldn't.

You need to be confident that this is the solution for you. I hope that you can find the answers you are looking for. My quality of life has improved so much in just the six weeks of recovery and I am so glad that I had mine done. Think of it as a quality of life issue for you too- will your life improve if you have it done? If you think you will regret it, what types of things are you thinking about? Please post them if you'd like and we all can help you.

Thinking of you.

Did I make the right decision?

Thank Jem for responding. How does one know if the quality of life will improve. The pain that I had just from this last period, 1 1/2 weeks of cramps before the period, bad bad cramps first two days of period (Valentines Day), period was 5 days, two of which are flooders, now brownish discharge for about a week until I start the cramps again. Bladder problems all the time. I hope it will improve. I am afraid the endo will come back. I am afraid problems with my bladder as I did after every lap I had (4) and just scared in general. I know it is the right thing for me, I never could me the decision for the laps either. I guess I am just a chicken. I am 47 and there is no reason to keep this infected uterus. I am a control person so I don't like people waiting on me. Its stuff like that is bugging me.

Did I make the right decision?

You sound alot like me. I have needed this for so long and have had a number of reasons to put it off until the body(which mine has a mind of its own sometimes) decided differently. I am 44 and finally set a date. I had always thought that I would be looking up at my mom/dad from a hospital bed with a baby in my arms--not to be. That had me in tears the nite after making the date with the dr. Blood/sweat/tears--not just a classic rock-n-roll group but also what you go thru with reproductive problems. Being ready in body but not in mind--I understand all too well. That is why I have waited. My heart aches but my body is telling me that I cant keep waiting around. I wish you the best--I wonder what life is like without the pain, extra laundry, and all the trappings that come with endo, cysts, etc?? Something to look forward to is what I am told

Did I make the right decision?

I'm not sure if you're ever totally mentally ready for this. It's more of a decision not to live with the current situation any longer. Yes, it's unknown if the end result will be better or worse than today, but a positive attitude is necessary to believe it will be better. Better for yourself and those in your life, not to be controlled by your body functions. Think about what you stated about being a control freak, this one part of your life is totally out of your control at the moment.

It difficult decision to say the least. My mother was almost 60 before menopause was over and I decided there was no way I could endure 15 more years like it was. I was tired of bleeding, being in pain, and trying to have a life. My dear Aunt Flo would decide to visit holidays, birthdays, vacations, business trips and any other really inconvient time she could find intrude on.

Currently using one pantiliner a day because of discharge. But even if I take an extra, one pantiliner fits into a jean pocket alot better than half dozen of overnite maxi pads. Four weeks post-op today and I'm thinking I made the right decision for myself and my future.

Did I make the right decision?

Thank you Ladies, everyone is so nice and are so hopefully. Edna I am so sorry that about what you are going through and having a hyst and not having a child I know that is must be very hard for you. I did not think I would ever have a child either but the good Lord gave me my one and only. My mother had the same problems as me, but at that time they did not have all the names for everything like they do now, endo, aden, fibroids. I will pray for all of you and hope all with me well. I taked to my dr office last nigt and she said she would call me by the end of the week for with a date, I'm happy I think!.

Did I make the right decision?

Thank you for your prayers and kindness. I think of life sometimes like a game of cards--you play the hand that you are dealt. With that, I sometimes think about the extra money I am gonna have after the hyster -- keeping 'Aunt Flo' up can get expensive. It's not gonna be alot but I can get a 'stash fund' started for somethings that I might want to save toward and buy for myself. Let me know when you get a date and how things go. I will be keeping you in my thoughts and

Did I make the right decision?

Edna, some times you look at these post and say oh my gosh that is me, when you said "you play the hand that you are dealt" I said she sounds like me because I always say "these are the cards I have been dealt". But there are things we can do and I hopefully done the road we can help someone through all of this like they have helped us. I am so glad I found this site.

Chin is up. : ) (most of the time)
