The Passion:

So many people want the resurrection without the Passion(the suffering and crucifixion). It does not work that way. I have not seen the movie yet, but I want to. I am a new Catholic(3 years now). Becoming a Catholic has made me realize I helped put those stripes on our's savior's back and those nails through his scared hands. I am very grateful for what he did for me. Your sister in Christ, D May Jesus bless you and Mary watch over you.

The Passion Of THe Christ...

I think a person's reaction to this film will be determined by their relationship with Jesus. If a loved one is sick or hurt, we care about them and feel bad about it. But if we read about a stranger in the newspaper being sick or hurt, do we really care? That's how it is with Jesus. If you don't want to watch what really happened "because you don't like violence, " then you are really thinking more about yourself and how it will make you feel. You are not thinking about how Jesus felt. Not only the physical pain He was going through, but the mental pain and sorrow He feels now, knowing that He went through all of that pain and suffering, yet so many people don't care that He did it. The movie will either make an impression on you, or it won't. Some people turn their heads away when Jesus is suffering in the film, because it is "too difficult to watch." Yes it is violent, and my guess is that most of us on this board aren't into watching violence. But this is not a fictional violent film, made for entertainment and money-making purposes. (Of course it is making lots of money, but do you really think Mel Gibson is hurting for money and that's why he made the movie?) This is a true story, and that is why alot of people are having problems with it. I think this movie was made because all of us need to remember what happened on Good Friday. We all know Christ died for our sins. Perhaps it's time we all understand exactly how that happened. God knows what our world is like today. What better way to reach thousands and thousands of people with a "reminder" about Christ's suffering, than through the movie? We are all given free will. We are free to go to the movie or not go. We are free to be impressed by the movie or not impressed by it. I guess each of us will answer this questions individually........"What really is my relationship with Jesus?" This movie may help some people to start thinking about that question. Obviously others already know their answer.

Thumbs up - The Passion Of THe Christ... The Passion Of THe Christ...

i have seen this movie 2x.the first time my dh and i took our 2 sons (10-8).They handled it well. Both have been saved for several yrs and have seen several of Mel Gibsons movies that are just as or even more graphic than this one.It helped that we watched the making of it first. It just shows you how bad hell must be that Jesus would go through that to keep me out of it. I was not "shocked" but just heartbroken that my sins put Him on that cross and gave Him those stripes.I also felt a mothers broken heart at seeing her son suffering and knowing that it had to happen and you can't stop it. I hope that all the film makers that turned this down are kicking themselves right now. I think Mel Gibson did a wonderful job.I wish he would now go back to the birth and make a movie of Jesus' life to His death and pick up with Mary and Mary going to the tomb and finding it empty and then on to the acension.I can't wait until it comes out on DVD.

Saw it on Saturday

My DH and I saw it this weekend at the afternoon matinee, so it was not too crowded. What a wonderfully done movie, and very emotional. Mel Gibson did an awesome job! I loved the flashbacks Jesus and his mother had during key parts of the whole ordeal. They were very touching, and made me cry. Yes, it was gruesome, and I closed my eyes during the worst parts. But this is a movie definitely worth seeing, and purchasing when it comes out on DVD. It really amkes you think. I hope it makes believers out of many who are doubters.

The Passion Of THe Christ...

Wasn't the movie made independently by Mel Gibson, and not via Hollywood?

I also understood that it's been distributed independently, and not through the Hollywood system.

The Passion Of THe Christ...

i'm just glad that a movie about Jesus and HIS sacrafice was made true to the Scriptures, and that people are talking about it.
As for the sister who posted that she did not want to see all the brutality and that "hollywood" was making $$- well, so be it if it has people talking about the LORD. By the way, Mel Gibson said he felt called to make this movie~ and made it independantly. It is a great career risk to make a movie like this in "hollywood".
Brutality, death, sacrafice and all the stuff no one wants to talk about is all through scripture. You cant have the "nice" without the "not so nice". It is a packaged deal. Just my

The Passion Of THe Christ...

I saw the Passion again...and was again at calvary, reminded deeply that his death was for my sins, once and for all...

He was the perfect sacrifice, making payment for my sins though he was sinless....to a righteous loving God.

And yes, he died for our sins, was buried and raised on the 3rd day. He lives. He lives.

He arose victorious over sin, over death...

What a glorious Savior is Jesus my Lord.

The Passion of the Christ

I am going to see on the 21st with our church. I know it will be difficult to sit for that long, but I remind myself that He was in so much more pain, how can I complain? I was thinking about that the other night....I have sharp pains still and I was getting frustrated, then I was thinking of Him....I felt silly for being impatient at my recovery! I hope you've seen the movie since your post!

The Passion Of THe Christ...

It seems wrong that people are making money off this movie about Jesus. That seems to go against what Jesus stood for. I would like to know where the proceeds from this movie are going? How would Jesus feel about people making a profit over his suffering.
