Girdle after Surgery??

Hi There,
I am still pretty new to the website and am still learning the
abbreviations etc. I am having abdominal surgery on 3/17 for
TAH. I am wondering if anyone has used a girdle after surgery,
and if so was it a help? My mom told me to wear a girdle shortly
after surgery to hold things together. Seems like a good idea.
I would like to hear from the other ladies, to hear how this felt-
and to find out how beneficial this would be. I don't usually
wear one. So I am not sure if it will be good for me or not. But
the support idea sounds great!

Girdle after Surgery??

I had a SAH/BSO on Feb 23( 6 days ago) The girle Idea is great, My DR. Suggested it to me. My BF bought me a back brace and what a difference it really helps releave pain and pressure, It does hold everything Up and In. Talk to your Dr. It was the best thing for me. What a relief! before I used the support, the pains were bad and it hurt to breath, Once I put on the back support. WOW What a difference! Much better. I walk better I can sit longer I can do more and I feel alot better. But the Key is still Rest Rest Rest! But yes a girdle or support of some sort does help alot. Good Luck, I hope I was able to help!

Girdle after Surgery??

While I was in the hospital my Dr. told my hubby to get a abdominal binder. It did help, after a week or so I found a panty girdle and wore it all the time until about 8 weeks. It really helps. and it makes you look slimmer too. lol

Girdle after Surgery??

I started out with the abdomnial binder, and went to a girdle about 1 weeks post op. I went back to my DR @ 10 days, and he wasn't happy about it, but I continued to wear it until 2 1/2 weeks out.
I would suggest it, the only reason why my Dr didn't want me to wear one was he was afraid my ab muscles would become "dependant" on the girdle holding them in, and I wouldn't do it myself.
I am now 4 weeks out and am slowly starting to use my ad muscles. (sneezing is still awful!)
