Bladder Spasms

I had to go to the er this afternoon due to severe bladder pain.
I thought I might have had a bladder infection because everytime my bladder filled up I had horrendous cramping yet when I emptied my bladder the pain went away. Come to find out I have post-surgical bladder spasms. These are no fun. The meds they gave me have taken the edge off, but the spasms are still there. I am going to call my Urologist's office and see if I can get an appointment to see him hopefully tomorrow.

Bladder Spasms

Hi Denise,

I am having those also. And you're right, they aren't any fun. It's like I can feel it all the way to the end of my urethra. Had my TAH/BSO on the 18th, almost 2 weeks ago. I am really hoping that this is the beginning of my bladder waking up. Ever since my surgery, I can't feel when I have to go to the bathroom like normal. I just feel pain when my bladder starts getting full. Hang in there, I'm sure it will get better.

Bladder Spasms

I too have had bladder spasms, since day 8 post-op. They are no fun but Dr said this common after surgery because bladder gets moved around alot . I'm still having them but I'm taking Uro-Blue and it helps soooooo much! I did have a nasty UTI and it took taking 2 diff antibiotics to get rid of it. I hope you don't have to experience that!

Glad your meds are working, it will get better with time.

Bladder Spasms

Sorry to hear about your spasms.

4 wks post op I too ended up in the er .. with 3 kidney stones. I've passed them however.. I believe I am experiencing some type of bladder spasms as well.. after I go to the bathroom, it feels like my insides are coming out .. there is no burning like from an infection it's almost like the first time you go after they take the catheter out .. is anyone else experiencing this type of discomfort. I'm called my gyn this morning but i'm afraid he'll blow me off and tell me it's not his problem or from the surgery ..

Bladder Spasms

I'm having the same problem as Michele. The discomfort feels like it's in my urethra. It almost feels as if there's something sticking in it. I'm 5 weeks post-op for TAH/BSO with sever endometriosos and hughe fibroids. I had this feeling since the day after I came home from the hospital. I have my six week post op check up next week. Hopefully it will go away. I'm a bit neurotic and always thing the worst.
