Doctor called

Hi everyone

I had my TAH/BSO Feb 4th and was due for my 6 week check up Mar 16. I just got a call from my doctor's office and he wants to see me before that date. His office said he is off this week but left a note for them to call me so he can see my next week when he returns. I have known his secretary for years and I asked her if everything is ok...she wouldn't say anything (I am sure she didn't know) but she said he was quite persistent in getting ahold of me.

I am trying to stay positive and hope that everything is ok. My partner is trying to make light of it for me by saying maybe the doc left his wristwatch in me? I am so nervous though and of course I am running all of those scary thoughts in my mind.....what did they find?

I guess I just needed to get this off my shoulders.

Thank you for listening.

Hugs
Heather

Oh that must be very scary! I'm sure all the worst possible things are going thru your head. But it's probably nothing at all. Maybe he's gonna be gone the week your first appt was scheduled, so he wants to get you in before.

That is cruel and unusual punishment. Is there a nurse or a nurse practitioner in his office you can talk to? If not, I'd DEMAND to have that doctor call me from the lovely Azores or wherever he is right now. If is was so imperative that he be in touch with you, he'll remember why even without your file in front of him. And if he doesn't get in touch with you, I'd rip his lungs out when I finally did see him.

Since it's been a month since your hysterectomy, I'd assume everything is all right -- you would have heard something by now it it wasn't?

Perhaps he's also going to be busy that week too. But I don't think it's fair that you have to worry, speculating that something's wrong. As someone else said, is there a nurse or other doc in the practice that can see you? I would call the secretary and explain you are so nervous due to lack of info that you want to speak with another med professional- it doesn't have to be your own doc.

If the news was really so important, he shouldn't have left a note for the office to call while he was on vacation- he should have called you right away and fit you in that day, even if it meant he stayed past 5:00.

This treatment is not fair to patients and you should let him know.

I think that if it was something really urgent, he would either tell you to get right to the hospital or have the on-call doctor see you.

Try not to stress too much, although I can certainly understand your concern. It's very scary when you don't know what to expect.

Please keep us posted and try not to worry yourself too much.

How scary for you....sometimes doctors just don't think! It is probably nothing and they have just decided to do your check-up sooner. I had a tvh on Feb. 20 and the nurse called me within the first week to let me know that they had sent in the fibroid cyst's for biopsy and that everything had come out fine, so surely if something was wrong, they would have known by now! I will say a prayer for you. You are right, sometimes it just helps to get it off your chest. Remember stress is not good for your healing...you have told your hyster sisters about it, now try and relax. Sounds like your dh is a huge comfort.

I wish you can feel better..
I know how terrible is to think about of thousand things before and after the surgery.
My surgery was 8 days ago... And the worst things can be just reveled by the pathology report.... Ask for that my friend.

If you already know about your pathology report... It is the most important thing. (the pathology report is done in about 3 to 5 days after your surgery).

I wish you the best.

{{{{{{{{{{{Hugs to you all}}}}}}}}}}}}

Thank you so much for your support and advice. I have another call into my family doc to see what he can find out for me. It is just those thoughts running through my over active mind.....you guys have been wonderful and I am so thankful for you all.

I have been doing ok....did have quite a bit of pain in my hip but that is subsiding a bit. My only main complaint has been extreme tiredness and some soreness at my incision but otherwise ok. I am thinking positive and hoping everything is ok.

I do plan on giving my gyno a piece of my mind when I do talk to him though.....he will need another vacation when I am done LOL

Thank you all again and best wishes for your recoveries too. I will keep you all posted.

Hugs

Heather -

Hang in there girl! If doctor's only knew how much they are able to alarm us. I had a TAH on 2/9/04. I went back on 2/23/04 for an incision check. Just before I saw the doctor I ran into a nurse that I know....asked her when path reports come back. She told me that they are back within 5 days and that they would call immediately if there was "anything". You are way past that so I would think that it is not anything serious. Besides, if it was serious, he would have called and said that he was going away but that one of his partners would see you. Still....it's an uneasy feeling with a doctor's call out there lurking. Please keep us posted and be sure and give him our regards as well... :-)
