Scared to get back in the saddle again

Friday is my appointment to follow up and get some testing done to see if I have cancer. I was eager to get this over with but now as I get closer I have become leery. Lately my glands in my neck have been swollen and this has been on going on and off for months. I am scared this may just be another symtpom of cancer. I could use a little hand holding

What was more frightening was I read someone elses story here who just had a vaginectomy, which is something I might have to have and it was scary to read about what she is facing. I know two peoples stories are the same, especially with cancer but I think my biggest concern and fear is imaging the worst. I know this sounds awful but I am also scared they wont figure out what is wrong and I just continue on this path.

Thanks for listening

If you are seeing a gyn/onc he'll check all your glands and it's likely that he will be able to tell you whether or not you have cancer, assuming you had biopsies done when you had your hysterectomy.

During the winter our glands in our neck swell because they are fighting all the viruses that are going around. If your glands do their job, they catch the nasties before they become sore throats, colds, etc. It's likely that you just never noticed before you contracted Cancerhead which makes us think that everything is cancer.

Seeing an oncologist is very scary, but we're here to hold your hand every step of the way.

Hey Poetic,

I am sorry you are going through this scary time. Anytime the cancer word is mentioned our mind starts to run through all these scenarios. I had a partial radical vaginectomy and radiation for vaginal cancer and I am doing fine.

As far as your glands, Janie is right. Anything, especially this time of year, could be causing it. My Gyn/Onc checks my glands each time I see him. No problems.

I know it is hard, (I did it myself) but try not to borrow trouble. I have found that my imagination comes up with a lot worse than what really happens.

Take care and let us know how it goes.

been there and am there now hun

Hi Poetic

I just had a vaginectomy a few weeks ago, it's really not so bad. It's doable. There will be some swelling at first but these days you can even have reconstruction, isn't that wonderful!

Please do not fear. I hope you don't have go thru this, but it is doable, but of course no one likes it. I had a wonderful life with my hubby but now, we have the great adventure ahead of us of finding new ways to love and just think if I can get a reconstruction, (I'm in Holland and have other complications) I will have everything new! Now, how many women can claim that! Cool!
