Swelly Belly? How Long Should it Last?

How long should swelly belly be lasting? I am 12 weeks post op and I'm still having swelly belly. My incision is still tender to the touch as well. Is this normal? If I overdo the water exercise I can feel a slight pulling on the right side of my incision, but it does not last as long as it was a couple of weeks ago. The lower part of my stomach seems to be growing some days, but them seems to be getting back to pre-op condition other days, and the frustration level is getting to me again. I'm taking an anti-depressant and my brain seems to be fighting the drug at times, but all in all I think I'm doing okay.

So can anyone give the "skinny" on how to deal with swelly belly, if that is what I'm going through.

Swelly Belly? How Long Should it Last?

I am almost 17 weeks post-op. I am resigned to saying I have "good belly days," and "bad belly days."

Seems like the bad belly days happen more when I've overindulged with food or wine.....

Exercise seems to help.

Anyway, my incision is still contracted and hard, and there's that lovely pooch overhanging, and a little soreness from time to time. I assume that when the incision softens out, it will be better, but I think that can take a year or so.

I am going to the Caribbean soon for vacation, and for the first time I bought some tankinis and am leaving the bikinis home.

Happily, I am leaving the tampons and pads behind, too!

Here's hoping we'll have more "good belly days" than bad!

Swelly Belly? How Long Should it Last?

yah i was just remembering all the swelly belly remarks everyone made and then you mentioned leaving all the pads at home for vacation and i realized how much more fun camping will be this summer not trying to find an outhouse in the campgrounds to change them.. or worry some bear will smell me out and grab me(that happens sometimes ..not to me but it has.)
so we should alllook at our little pouches and still rejoice.. ill use mine to rest my ice tea on this summer!!!!
