On March 22, im having an Oophorectomy. There will be on oncologist there also. We are hoping for the best. My CA 125 was a 9.5 so the dr is not too worried about Cancer. I hope he is right. Lets hope he is!

Good Luck with your surgery. I hope all path reports come back as benign--no cancer at all. Remember to rest, rest, rest, and let yourself heal.

Rosalie= an oopherectomy is removal of the ovaries (ovary).

Thank You Ruth..

Call me stupid but, why remove just the ovaries and not anything else?? Seems strange to me. I would want to remove anything that might, at any time, give me problems.

Shelby, good luck again with your decision and may everything be fine.

Rosalie, you ask why not take out everything? It depends on what you have wrong with you. I am going to have just one ovary removed in April. Also a D&C, which may or may not take care of my bleeding problem, which only began in January. Periods were not overly heavy or painful before this, so I see no reason to take out anything else. A hyst may still be in my future, but for now, my real issue is just with one huge cyst on one ovary, and it can be removed laparoscopically as out patient surgery.

Hi Rosalie
No question is stupid in my book!
The reason they are only removing one Ovarie is because its all I have left. Everything else was removed 2 years ago because of fybroids and cysts.
Hopefully this one is benign also
thanks for all your well wishes

Shelby,

All the best with your surgery and recuperation.

I'm glad that the doctor is optimistic, and just to give that optimism an extra boost, know that you're being kept in thought and prayer here.

Blessings.
