Fibroids causing rapidly increasing Pain and tummy size???

Hi ,
Have any of you with Fibroids noticed that each period seems to be more and more painful and more clots , and coming closer together,, AND have any of you noticed that your entire abdomen is looking and feeling larger and larger ,, Mine is noticeable larger the past few months actually,, even though I've been on a low carb diet and actually have lost 10 lbs... Tummy looks and feels pregnant.. I am on the second day of my Aunt Flo today and I am hoping this is the last one of my LIFE... (LAVH scheduled April 6th) That is hard to even imagine,, as I've had periods for 35 yrs.. My Dr. finally put me on Tylenol #2, and I've had to take 2 ALeeve and 3 Tylenol #2s just to even STAND it or function at all.... (The last 2 cycles I've had to take this stuff).. I have felt soooo tired the past few months too... all the time..I've been puttiing this off for 2 yrs., and it's like there comes a time you just know you have had ENOUGH... Hopefully, after surgery I will feel like a new woman and gain energy and health back.. The way I've been my whole life till recently.. It's scarry... Kathie

Fibroids causing rapidly increasing Pain and tummy size???

Kathie - THANK YOU for saying how tired you are - I was just RECENTLY dx with fibroids - once dx - they were setting the op date!!! I can certainly agree that my periods over the past months have been HORRIBLE - heavy and lots of clots - Like wise -I am extremely TIRED and have very little energy. You are not alone!! I know what you mean about looking "pregnant" - I also have to pee alot more often now TOO and the stomach sticks out more. Oddly I had lost some weight last year and I have pulled out some of my pants from then - LARGE in the waste and but they fit nicely around the lower gut!!!

I will be having my TAH/LSO on the 29th of this month

I found this web site today and have been on it at least 10 times looking for information - THANKS to all who are out here sharing your wisdom, questions and support!!!!!

fibroids pain

I have been bleeding since July,03 with only 2 one week breaks because of fibroids. Nothing has helped and I have my TAH/BSO tomorrow. I have a slight cold hopefully that won't postpone it. I have to urinate all the time because my biggest fibroid is pressing on the bladder. I look pregnant too and gave up on zippered pants quite some time ago. I can't wait for this to be over.

Oh yeah, me too!

You're singing my song! Since the first of the year I've had five periods, each one "clottier" than the last, not to mention PAINFUL. I take two kinds of narcotics on a daily basis for nerve pain, and the menstrual pain cuts straight through those meds.

I, too, have rapidly growing fibroids, plus an ovarian tumor the size of a canteloupe that's suspicious looking. I can hardly wait to be rid of it all. Because I am very heavy, I thought nothing of my further expanding belly or the funky new nerve pain in my legs the past few months. I just shrugged it off as getting fatter, to be honest, until I got severely anemic from all the bleeding. The fatigue and general misery are just mind numbing. I *wish* they were body numbing as well.... :eyes:

Fibroids causing rapidly increasing Pain and tummy size???

My rapidly-growing fibroid kind of took me by surprise. From ultrasounds during last pregnancy, I knew I had them, but they were never really bothersome--not the heavy bleeding and pain that seems so common. I developed a nagging backache in October that I shrugged off, then attributed my pooching belly to holiday over-eating.
In January, I went for 6 month checkup complaining of pelvic pain. Doc ordered an ultrasound & results showed fibroid had grown tremendously & uterus the size of 17 wk pregnancy. So surgery is best option, VH not an option though.
Now over the past two months periods have suddenly become painful, more bladder & rectal pressure, even sex is uncomfortable and I pay for it the next day. While I am hoping for relief, the post-op recovery scares me. Everyone's healing experience is so different. And the HT worries me, too.

Carol, I grew up in St. Louis--not too terribly far.

Mitzie40, fellow buckeye, wishing you the best tomorrow!

Kathie, hope some of these posts helped.
Wishing all of us more energy on the other side of the castle!

Fibroids causing rapidly increasing Pain and tummy size???

To all the sisters in this post,

I have been there, had clotting the size of a golf ball(not kiding), heaving bleeding, migraines, cramping, back pain etc., and now have the 5 inch abdominal scar to prove it!

I had a TAH on 02/27/04 due to enlarged uterus and 3 large fibroids, kept ovaries. I am 2+ weeks post op and feel very good. I am a little sore, but nothing major. The worst part was waiting for the surgery date to finally arrive. I just had my first cycle since the TAH and only experienced a minor headache. Boy, what a change!

I wish you all the best and make sure you are comfortable with your decision about surgery. Having a positive attitude has helped me get through this.

Take care!

Fibroids causing rapidly increasing Pain and tummy size???

Yep, more and bigger fibroids... more and ickier flooding... more and more frequent trips to the loo... more and fiercer pain.

I'm 8 weeks out. I am sitting here with my swelly belly band on after a long 9 hour shift. I no longer need any advil through the day, the band's enough to drop the swelling. I had a 10 hour day yesterday, played 18 holes of golf on Friday. I bartend so my days are on my feet and moving the whole time. I don't have to plan my trips by where the next public toilet is located.

The year before my hyst, I lost about 50 lbs on Weight Watchers. The only part of my that didn't get skinnier was my stomach. I'm working on that now. My energy is starting to come back, but I still have some healing to do, I'm not going to rush it. I still get the boys to do some of the heavy lifting for me. (They are always happy to lift a keg for me... it's worth a free )

Fibroids causing rapidly increasing Pain and tummy size???

I had all of the above. Since Sept.'03 heavy bleeding, clots, pain, pain, pain coming every 2 wks or so. I looked and felt pregnant. I have been so exhausted and severely enemic. I just had tah and bladder sling on 2/28/04. I am 2wks post op, still sore and I think I overdid it yesterday because I am exhausted today and paying for it. I am so happy the surgery is over, waiting is the hard part for sure. Looking foward to being healthy again. I am still waiting pathology report. Good Luck with your surgery and recovery!

Big Belly

I know what you mean about the stomach I have been on a diet since Aug. 03 and have lost 23 pds with no luck on the stomach. My waist dropped some but not my lower at all still tight. For those of you that are post op can you tell me whether or not your stomach has went down at all? And for those that have used the swelly belly band what do you think? My surgery is scheduled for 3/23/04. I am very nervous scared and everything else that comes with this. I appreciate all of your support for one another it really does make me feel better.

Thanks,
Christy
